When it comes to Netflix, one rule is always key to follow - never become too attached to a show.

With the streamer being well known for cancelling shows with beloved fan bases left and right, if they judge it’s no longer bringing in subscribers, only fans of the biggest shows on the platform can ever feel safe.

The Netflix curse seems to have struck once again, as a show with a hardcore fan base and a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score is ending after its upcoming second season.

Check out the teaser for season two here:

Where Arcane differs from your regular Netflix show is that the creators are bowing out after season two on their own terms – rather than being cancelled.

The show, based off the popular video game League of Legends, released to widespread acclaim – with season one receiving a rare perfect 10/10 from IGN.

Their review said: “Arcane delivers a killing blow to the idea that video games cannot be masterfully adapted into other mediums.

“Like Into the Spider-Verse, we’ll be talking about Arcane as a classic and a standard-setter for years to come.”

With the show having released in 2021 it was a shock hit, with the pitch of an animated series based on League of Legends raising eyebrows across the board.

The teaser for season two revealed that, unfortunately, the upcoming release would be the final one of the show.

Fans, understandably, are not taking the news well.

One posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) to say: “The FINAL SEASON? I thought we were just getting started.”

Another said: “Final season? Netflix can't let us have nice things”.

A fan also added to this, saying: “Show is so good... why only two seasons?!”

For fans of the show panicking, we have good news.

Whilst Arcane will finish with season two, the showrunner has confirmed – this isn’t the end for the story.

Christian Linke confirmed that the ending to Arcane’s story has ‘been mapped out from the beginning’.

They went on to say, however: “Arcane is just the beginning of our larger animation story.

“We’re currently working on our next projects across television and film and we’re hopeful we can share more by the end of the year.”

Linke also hinted in the video that the spin-offs would be focused on other League of Legends characters, with Arcane having been predominantly focused on the characters of Vi and Jinx.
