A show on Netflix which was once cancelled has now ended up becoming one of the most-watched on the platform.

Netflix has developed something of a reputation for cancelling series which are much-loved by audiences, sometimes after just one season.

The flip side of this is that these shows often find a new lease of life on the streaming service, sometimes years after their cancellation.

Perhaps the best example of this is a drama that follows a group of people who are on board a flight which goes missing.

After they finally make their way back home the passengers find out that they have been missing for five years.

The series then follows their lives as they try to pick up the pieces and reintegrate into society.

If you haven't already guess, the show is Manifest, which Netflix commissioned for a fourth season after its cancellation by original broadcaster NBC.

It first aired on NBC in 2018 and ran for three seasons.

But in June 2021 the broadcasting company confirmed that it would not be renewing Manifest for a fourth season, despite this being proposed.

Just a few month later, in August 2021, Netflix bought the rights to the show and renewed it for another season.

And since then Manifest has proved to be a major hit for the streaming-platform, going on to be among its most-watched shows in the world.

A report from Variety in 2022 claimed that the first few episodes of the fourth season totted up a whopping 57.1 million hours viewed in the first three days that they were available to stream.

Manifest finally concluded with its fourth and final season in June 2023, however, fans and critics continue to rave about it.

The fourth season sits at an impressive 88 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Nicole Gallucci, from the Decider, said: "Trust us. Manifest pulls out all the stops in its final batch of episodes to prove itself worthy of surviving its own Death Date back in 2021."

Meanwhile, Collider's Jay Snow penned: "Manifest is back and better than ever, fully taking advantage of its new life on Netflix to keep everyone on the edge of their seats until the final moment of this flight."

While Lauren Piester, from The Wrap, remarked: "Manifest Season 4 will not disappoint fans of the show, though it is likely to break their hearts and/or get those hearts racing."
