Fans urge Netflix subscribers to watch ‘underrated' sci-fi series with perfect RT score and three seasons to binge

Netflix subscribers are being urged to watch an 'underrated' sci-fi series that has a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score.

The popular streaming platform is, of course, packed with incredible films and TV shows to sink your teeth into, but if you are looking for something that has flown under the radar, then this particular series that debuted on Netflix in 2016 might be your jam.

Travelers features a host of famous faces and is lead by Eric McCormack, best known for portraying Will Truman in NBC's Will & Grace.

While The Penguin's Jared Abrahamson, See's Nesta Cooper and country singer MacKenzie Porter also feature.

Set hundreds of years in the future, the show follows the last surviving humans who discover a way to send consciousness back through time, directly into people living in the 21st century.

These 'travelers' assume the lives of seemingly random people, but they're also secretly working as teams to perform missions in order to save humanity from a 'terrible future', according to Traveler's synopsis.

The team are made up of an FBI agent, a single mom and a college student - who are helped by by their knowledge of history and an archive of social media accounts.

Season two of Travelers dropped in 2017, while a third and final season released in 2018. To this day, the series has a perfect 100 percent Rotten Tomatoes score.

The sci-fi classic came up in conversation after one person asked on Reddit: "Sometimes I stumble upon a show I have never heard of before and end up loving it way more than I expected. I am curious if anyone else has had this experience. What is the most underrated show you have discovered on Netflix that more people should watch?"

"Ugh... I still think about the Travelers concept. Brilliant... just brilliant. I wish there were at least 2 more seasons," one person commented, while a second quipped: "Such a fun and interesting concept of a show. I’m glad it ended the way it did, but it was too soon."

Industry critics heaped praise on the show, with the New York Times' review of season one saying: "It's hard to find a fresh take on the time-travel conceit, since it's been around so long and has been so heavily mined lately, but Travelers has some attention-grabbing flourishes and fine acting."

And the Sydney Morning Herald said: "The series' mix of seasoned sci-fi directors and relatively new writers gives it a suitable blend of freshness and assurance, and watching even a single episode gives some sense of just how much there is to be teased out. Intriguing stuff."
