Netflix fans left demanding more after binge watching 98% rated horror series in a weekend

Writers behind the show have admitted there's a lot of 'pressure' surrounding a third season

A Netflix horror series with a near-perfect score of 98 percent on Rotten Tomatoes has left viewers desperate for more as a third season is still yet to be confirmed.

Is there anything worse than being left waiting for more episodes of a show that might never come? Here's looking at you, Mindhunter... *Wistful sigh*.

Unfortunately, as viewers we don't have a lot of control over what the execs in the TV world choose to do when it comes to our favorite shows, so all we can do is show our love and hope for the best.

That's exactly what viewers of one particular South Korean horror series have been doing ever since it first arrived on Netflix in 2019, with fans now begging for a third season after the second was followed by a much more brief special episode.

Starring the likes of Ju Ji-hoon, Bae Doona, Kim Sungkyu and Kim Hye-jun, the series follows the characters in a kingdom as strange rumors about their ailing king begin to circulate.

As the situation worsens, the crown prince becomes their only hope against the mysterious plague which seems to be overtaking the land.

Titled Kingdom, the series kept fans entertained throughout both 2019 and 2020 with its first two seasons, followed by the special, Ashin of the North, which arrived in 2021.

The series was well received as it earned its high Rotten Tomatoes score, but fast forward four years and the question of a third season is still yet to be answered.

Fans have made clear that they're desperate for more, with one fan even threatening to put a 'hex' on Netflix if it didn't deliver.

They wrote: "Bruh, I just remembered… we still haven’t gotten a season 3 for Kingdom. Wtf happened? I s**t you not, this is better than 99.9% of other Netflix originals. If they don’t bring it and the spinoff back, I’m putting several (more) hexes on Netflix."

"Great story! Interesting and believable character development and character motivation. I need more!!!!!," another wrote.

Other fans have encouraged more Netflix users to watch the show, with one sharing on Reddit: "Kingdom [is] a Korean zombie drama. As fast pace as you can get. It’s the best zombie anything I’ve ever watched. Oh.. and everyone wears these really cool hats."

Kingdom creators have spoken out previously about the possibility of a third season, however writer Kim Eun-hee admitted there is a lot of 'pressure' surrounding any future episodes.

Per Philstar, the writer said: "I would be lying if there’s no pressure. Pressure is inevitable at this point. However, I do feel that it is nearly impossible to create something that, if you show the content to 100 people, all of them love it."

Hopefully season three will happen, but until then, Kingdom is available to stream on Netflix.
