A Netflix K-drama is getting rave reviews from fans who are comparing it to the famed John Wick film series.

The Netflix gods have truly blessed us with a whole range of TV shows for us to binge, from a series that's been called 'gloriously stupid fun', or a 'powerful' crime series that'll be leaving the streaming platform very soon.

But if you’re looking for a new show to binge that's a bit different from your usual, then look no further, as Netflix subscribers are obsessed with this seven-episode series.

The action-packed noir drama series from South Korea was released on the streaming platform on June 6 and viewers across the world have watched it for a combined 24,700,000 hours at the time of writing.

One viewer on Reddit dubbed the series ‘very intense’ while another fan called it the ‘best show in 2025 so far’.

“Just binged the entire thing (first time this year I’ve done a proper binge watch) SO good,” a viewer remarked in the same thread.

So what is this hyped K-drama about?

The series is based on a webtoon, Plaza Wars: Mercy for None by O Se-hyung and Kim Gyun-tae. Netflix’s adaption follows the life of a former gangster named Nam Gi-jun (played by So Ji-sub).

After an incident that left him injured 11 years ago, he left his criminal past, along with his younger brother, Nam Gi-seok (Lee Joon-hyuk) behind.

But Nam Gi-jun discovers that his brother has been brutally killed which forces him back into the world of crime in Seoul to uncover the truth and enact revenge, all while armed with a baseball bat.

Seoul’s criminal underworld in the show is run by two powerful organisations: Bongsan Group and Juwoon Group. Nam Gi-jun had been living in exile since leaving the criminal underworld behind over a decade ago, but he enters the mob scene once again and this time hellbent on revenge.

And viewers online have been singing their praises, as one person called it a 'great series'.

One thread on Reddit with the title “Mercy for None = John Wick” received a number of positive comments, with one response claiming “I see the similarity. The basic concept is the same.”

Although, not all fans of the Keanu Reeves franchise agreed - in a separate thread a fan responded to the comparisons and said: “Calling it Korean John Wick is a stretch, but it seems to be inspired by the first John Wick movie.

"Absolutely amazing, this is so fun to watch, just pure action and intrigue, and Korean gangster shows are always somehow the coolest shows.”

Mercy for None has also earned an impressive 100 per cent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing.

All seven episodes are available to stream on Netflix right now.
