The Minecraft movie hasn’t been well liked by critics, but moviegoers have been eating the film up, and they're losing their minds over one scene in particular.

When it comes to movie adaptations of video games, the bar isn’t particularly high... In fact, when the first trailer for A Minecraft Movie dropped, many suspected it would be dead on arrival.

If you go back and look at the Warner Bros. YouTube page, the initial teaser trailer has over 1.8 million dislikes compared to the 740,000 likes.

Studios were likely shaking in their boots at the prospect of spending millions of dollars to release a dud.

And then, the magic happened.

Trends and memes were born, and luckily for executives, it ties directly into going to see the film.

Based on the extremely popular video game, the flick stars Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, and Jennifer Coolidge, and viewers seem to be loving it.

A Minecraft Movie exceeded box office expectations, raking in $163 million in North America alone during its opening weekend.

Footage doing the rounds online sees theatre-goers descend into chaos during one scene in particular.

In a now-viral clip, Minecraft fans roared with applause and starting jumping up and down while throwing popcorn everywhere in the process.

One screening became so unruly that police were called in to intervene, Dextero reports.

The moment they're reacting to? A chicken jockey's cameo, of course.

A chicken jockey is a rare enemy that appears in the game which comes in the form of a baby zombie riding a chicken.

As to how scarce a chicken jockey is, a Minecraft-dedicated fandom page said: "In a chicken-free environment, each spawned zombie has a 0.25 percent chance of becoming a chicken jockey; if chickens are present, the chance increases to 0.4875 percent."

While this has been a brilliant community moment for those who are fans of the game, movie theatres aren’t loving it as much.

Some cinemas have started warning patrons to avoid ‘disruptive behavior’ at screenings of the film.

Watch the scene here:

A spokesperson for REEL cinema in Fareham, England told the Daily Echo: “To ensure everyone has the best possible cinema experience, we're increasing our monitoring of screens during performances.

“Disruptive behavior, including taking part in TikTok trends, before, during, or after a screening will not be tolerated.

“Anyone causing disruption will be asked to leave, and where necessary, the police will be called.”

Another theatre, Cineworld in Scotland, took to social media to issue a warning.

The statement read: “We’ve been informed of reports of an online trend that includes making excessive noise during A Minecraft Movie.

“We would like to remind everyone to please be respectful to those around them by not making noise nor being on their phones during any movie. Failure to do so may result in ejection from the cinema.”
