Jenna Ortega is gunning for an even darker season of Netflix hit series Wednesday - if the show gets renewed, that is.

It's hard to see why Wednesday wouldn't be back for a second season, since it shot to the top of the Netflix charts and broke streaming records in its first week alone.

Plus, the series co-creators Miles Millar and Al Gough have already shared their hopes that Wednesday will stretch out for 'four seasons'.

So, all going well, we'll be seeing a lot more of the Addams Family on our screens soon. And as soon as the next season is confirmed, series star Jenna has some ideas.

"I kind of want her to be darker," she said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

"I want her to get more in the nitty-gritty of things and not play things so safe.

"Because there are a lot of lines about her saving the school and doing whatever, but for me, her main drive with the monster is of a competitiveness. Kind of, ‘Man, how’s this guy doing this?’"

"I think I want it to continue down an antihero stream rather than a typical hero."

There has also been a lot of talk about whether or not Wednesday might develop a romantic relationship with her Nevermore roommate Enid Sinclair (Emma Meyers).

Since the series blew up, fans have been calling for the two school chums to get together, insisting that they have undeniable chemistry.

While showrunners Millar and Gough are determined to stick to their vision for Wednesday and not to lose track of the Addams Family daughter's storyline and personality, they're not exactly opposed to the idea.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about Wednesday and Enid's relationship and whether it was intended to be romantic, Millar said: "This idea of sisterhood is key to the show.

Series creators are already preparing for season two.

"We’re not gonna discount anything, and, obviously, sometimes characters reveal themselves, which is the fun thing we love about television, that it’s an organic journey.

"We have a roadmap, and we’d like to have routes along that map that take you in unexpected directions.

"So, we’re open to everything. We wanna explore that friendship in every way, but we’re not gonna be, this is where you sometimes get misdirected by fans and things like that, so it’s just being really open to see how those characters develop and that friendship. As Al said, that friendship is key to our sort of vision of the show."

We'll just have to wait for Wednesday to be renewed before we see how it all unfolds.
