Young Frankenstein star Teri Garr has died aged 79

It was confirmed the actress died at her home after suffering with a disease

The comic actress and singer died at her home in Los Angeles according to reports.

The actress was known to be an inspiration to some of the women in Hollywood today for her roles and attitude to her work.

The death of the actress was confirmed by her manager on October 29 according to ABC7 report. She died at her home in Los Angeles after a long battle with multiple scleroris.

The actress made a name for herself in the 70s and 80s, starring in both TV and films, most notably Mel Brook's Young Frankenstein and Sydney's Pollack's Tootsie.

On social media, tributes for the actress have begun to pour in.

One user wrote: "Tootsie. Young Frankenstein. After Hours. And down the line. A comedy powerhouse with a quirky vibe who was also more than capable of taking on dramatic roles. Terri Garr will be very missed. AK"

Another added: "Terri Garr has passed. One of the funniest people of all time. TOOTSIE. YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN. MR. MOM. The BEST guest on Letterman. An early childhood crush, easily one of my favorite actresses, so charming and likable. May she Rest in Peace.
