Robert Pattinson reveals ‘very strange’ and specific body odor he had for years and leaves people disgusted

The actor explained his personal scent hasn't always been very appealing

Robert Pattinson has opened up about his body odor, explaining that he had a 'very strange' scent for a number of years.

The actor, 39, is an ambassador for the Dior Homme fragrance, but it seems his own personal scent hasn't always been so appealing.

Back in 2020, Pattinson told Allure that he had noticed many people around him telling him that he 'smells like a crayon'. Crayons have a pretty distinct, waxy scent, often described as quite 'earthy'.

“Lots of people tell me I smell like a crayon,” Pattinson said at the time. And when asked if it was like he was 'made of wax', he responded: "Yes! Like I’m embalmed."

In a recent interview with GQ, Pattinson provided an update on his body odor, explaining that these days, his body chemistry has 'changed' and he no longer smells so waxy.

“My body chemistry has changed. It’s very strange. But I 100% used to smell exactly like a crayon," the Die My Love star told the outlet.

He then shared his 'weird' hypothesis that you seemingly become 'less scented' the older you get, as he continued: "And it’s weird, you become less scented as you get older, I think. I don’t really notice my smell anymore. I used to have a very particular, pronounced smell. A crayon-y one.

"Before that, it was quite a kind of vicious, vicious scent. And then something, I think, when it became crayon-y, it was like something died."

The Twilight star added: "I guess the seven-year cycle…. Maybe I was smelling of crayons when one self died, and when a new self was born, it was less scented."

Some commentators on Reddit were pretty taken aback at the admission, as one person said: "Thank you for sharing. Now take it back."

Another said they 'wish I didn't know about it', while a third added: "Some things don't have to be said out loud."

However, others were appreciative of his comments, as someone else said they thought celebrities 'presenting themselves as human beings with human ‘flaws’ is basically a healthy development', adding: "Sure, there are some things some celebrities are maybe a bit more open about than we need them to be, but “I have a human body that does weird human body things” is a fairly benign thing to put out there, imo."

Pattinson even said that he'd actually lost his sense of smell for a time, and these days doesn't smell much at all.

He has, however, learnt what that 'newborn smell' is actually like, after welcoming his daughter with partner Suki Waterhouse in March 2024.

He told Vogue last year: “I remember people used to be like ‘oh, don’t you like the smell of babies, but I thought they were just smelling the baby powder.

“But then I had a baby, and I was like ‘my baby smells incredible.’ There's something there, I can identify her. She doesn't smell like other babies.”
