Robert Pattinson has spoken about the question he was once asked by a therapist during a session.
While interviewing each other for Interview Magazine, Pattinson was talking about the issue of identity and character development with co-star Zendaya when he revealed the comment that a therapist once made to him.
The pair are starring together in Kristoffer Borgli's upcoming film, The Drama.
Pattinson explained: "When I was doing Twilight, there was such a cultural pushback against it, almost simultaneous to its success, so I kind of had to ride both things. I really enjoyed making the movies, but then there was such a huge marketing push behind it as well.

"I didn’t want to get my personal identity caught up in that, so I tried to push forward my individuality a little, and that kind of stuck with me. It was also interesting getting famous off of playing a part—people thought I was that character in the beginning."

When Zendaya responded, pointing out that it must have been 'weird', Pattinson said: "It was quite strange, but it also allowed me to push against it. Also, I wasn’t precious about that identity because it wasn’t my identity to begin with.
"... A lot of people are very protective of, 'This is who I am, this is my identity', and I’ve never really felt that. Part of me is very certain of who I am, but I don’t feel it’s odd to just wake up one day and just be a different person. [Laughs] I think it’s positive insecurity. God, I’m just imagining what this is going to read like, and I’m like, 'You sound like such a…'.
Zendaya then intercepted, while Pattinson explained the brutal question he was once asked in therapy.
He said: "I went to therapy once and the therapist asked me if I was on drugs because they couldn’t understand what I was talking about. I was like, 'I’m trying my best.' [Laughs]."

In a separate, recent interview, Pattinson addressed comments he had made years ago about his body odor.
Back in 2020, Pattinson told Allure that he had noticed many people around him telling him that he 'smells like a crayon'. Crayons have a pretty distinct, waxy scent, often described as quite 'earthy'.
“Lots of people tell me I smell like a crayon,” Pattinson said at the time. And when asked if it was like he was 'made of wax', he responded: "Yes! Like I’m embalmed."
In a recent interview with GQ, Pattinson provided an update on his body odor, explaining that these days, his body chemistry has 'changed' and he no longer smells so waxy.
My body chemistry has changed. It’s very strange. But I 100% used to smell exactly like a crayon," the Die My Love star told the outlet.

Pattinson then shared his 'weird' hypothesis that you seemingly become 'less scented' the older you get, as he continued: "And it’s weird, you become less scented as you get older, I think. I don’t really notice my smell anymore. I used to have a very particular, pronounced smell. A crayon-y one.
"Before that, it was quite a kind of vicious, vicious scent. And then something, I think, when it became crayon-y, it was like something died."
