Minaj stars as Vogue’s December cover and spoke to the magazine about her own insecurities.

She said now, at age 40, she has come to understand the importance of loving oneself whether you have curves or not.

Minaj, who has recently had a breast-reduction surgery, spoke about her previous desires to have a bigger butt.

“I used to want a bigger butt, and now I look back and realize how silly that was. So – love your curves, and love your non-curves. There’s nothing wrong with any of it.

“I’ve had a lot of time to figure myself out. The idea of accepting what you can’t change – it just never clicked with me before. Now I understand,”

Minaj also explained that after giving birth to her son, she felt pressure to quickly get back into shape and tied this into the difficulties of being a mother.

“There are questions that you can’t just Google. Every day a mom has to wake up and be a supermom no matter what they’re faced with.”

The star explained that as she has grown to manage her expectations of life and come to terms with not being able to control all aspects.

“You know that feeling when you unlock one of the secrets of life?” she continued.

“For me the idea of accepting what you can’t change—it just never clicked with me before. You want to have control over everything, but that’s the easiest way to be unhappy.

“So now, if I find myself trying to control it all, I try to remember what’s really important. I look in my son’s face, and my whole soul lights up. He has no clue how nerve-racking it’s been for me to be a mother and an artist”
