Sex and the City star Chris Noth has walked back a savage dig he made to his former co-star Sarah Jessica Parker, after show fans slammed him for his snub.
The situation first unfolded after Parker was honoured at this year’s Golden Globes with the Carol Burnett award on January 6, just days before the official awards ceremony on January 12. While many of Parker’s co-stars were quick to congratulate her, the same couldn’t be said for Noth, who initially made no comment regarding her achievement.
However, on January 9, Noth shared a photograph of himself at the gym, with the caption reading: "F&@k new years - LETS GO!!!!"
A user then commented: "You mean f**k sjp & her award right? lol."

And who should respond to the comment but Noth, stating: "Right."
Another Instagram user commented: "What'd I miss."
And a third said: "He’s just bitter that they [wrote] him off the show."
Fans were less than impressed by the blunt and seemingly savage response to Parker’s success, and following intense backlash, Noth has now spoken out and attempted to clear the air over what he branded an ‘off the cuff’ remark.

Taking to Instagram on January 14, Noth wrote: “My off the cuff slightly sarcastic response to a comment on the internet seems to have caused a tempest in a teapot.
“It is not news. It is not worth all this discussion. It is a waste of time in a world where there are more important things to worry about.”
Following the defence of his comment, many of Noth’s supporters responded to his statement and insisted he was behaving like a ‘class act’ for addressing it, while many argued that he didn’t need to apologize for anything.
In fact, many users were on his side and felt he was completely justified in feeling slighted by Parker’s recognition for her work on SATC, when his character Mr.Big had been instrumental in the show’s success.
He and Parker co-starred as Mr. Big and Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City which ran from 1998 to 2004 and was followed by two movies.
When the show returned for a sequel, And Just Like That, the two characters had tied the knot and were living the high life in New York City, but Mr.Big was soon killed off to throw further turmoil into character Carrie’s life.

Notably, however, Noth’s final appearance in the show never made it to air, as he was cut from the show following sexual assault allegations. The accusations came from two women who alleged to they were sexually assaulted by Noth in 2004 in Los Angeles and 2015 in New York City.
Noth has denied the claims, releasing a statement which read: "The accusations against me made by individuals I met years, even decades, ago are categorically false. These stories could’ve been from 30 years ago or 30 days ago—no always means no—that is a line I did not cross. The encounters were consensual."
Despite being lovers on-screen, Parker seemingly cut contact with Noth after the allegations came to light against the actor.
She confirmed this an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, when Parker responded, 'No,' when asked if she'd been in contact with Noth since the accusations arose in December 2021.
