North West, 12, debuts controversial new look and it's left people divided

North West fired up her new solo Instagram page on Christmas Day to share a fresh look with her many followers, but the pictures left many divided over the 12-year-old's appearance.

The eldest daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, who vehemently opposed any of his kids getting a social media profile, posted nine pictures on the week-old account which claims to be 'managed by parents' in the bio.

They showed the youngster in an all-white outfit, which Lil Tay called 'swag overload', as North showed off her turquoise hair, fresh kicks, and what appears to be diamond-studded grillz on her teeth. The pictures were captioned simply with a water emoji, representing her new 'drip'.

But as with her controversial dermal piercings and previous divisive outfits, North's more than 700,000 Instagram followers were not sure how they felt about her adult appearance. Some said 'this is iconic' of Kim's eldest, while others thought she 'looks too damn grown'.

With a billionaire socialite and businesswoman for a mother, it seems that North's tastes are suitably expensive. But with her father being a rapper known for his avant-garde looks, it seems she has inherited some of his edge.

Her custom diamond grillz are understood to have been made by high-end jeweller Johnny Dang, with Kim picking the pricey piece up two weeks ago when she was pictured with the Houston accessory specialist.

Some in the comments estimated that the blinged-out mouth accessory could have cost as much as $50,000, which would be a life-changing amount for most people, but is likely a drop in the ocean for someone whose mom is worth close to $2 billion.

Though some bemoaned the ostentatious show of wealth, many could empathize with her desire to show off. One supporter said: "She doing the same shi i would’ve done at 12 if i had that money. Let the girl live."

Another pointed out: "Yall know her parents rich ?! lol mannn if I was her as a 12 year old!"

The post was North's third on the fresh Instagram account, which has gained 790,000 followers in the six days since its creation. But her account appears to be viewed by many who do not follow it, with the first post by the 12-year-old gaining 1.8 million likes.

Her diamond-studded Christmas post gained 710,000 like and over 7000 comments.

Something many agreed on was that Kanye would not be happy to see his daughter posting on social media, especially in light of his previous opposition to her going on online. "She's too young bro Kanye was right," one Instagram user commented.

Another added: "This kid is 12 she should be watching Peppa Pig learning her times tables and doing arts and crafts... what's happening here kmt."

But while some found the pre-teen's appearance disconcerting, the majority were supportive of the youngster as she explores her preferred aesthetic.

The ever-stylish famed singer Erykah Badu gave her nod of approval, leaving four blue hearts in a comment underneath North's dripped-out Christmas Day post.
