Nicolas Cage’s ex dismisses him from lawsuit after their son's alleged attack left her with 'life-threatening injuries'

Christina Fulton is still suing the pair's son, Weston Coppola Cage, over an alleged attack

Christina Fulton, Nicolas Cage's former partner, has dismissed the actor from a lawsuit after suing him over the abuse she claimed she suffered at the hands of their son, Weston Coppola Cage.

Fulton, 57, and Cage, 61, parted ways shortly after Weston was born in 1990 - but that seemed to only tell half the story.

Allegations surrounding the relationship have recently been revealed, with Fulton claiming her then 33-year-old son assaulted her on April 28 last year.

Fulton is suing her son for assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligent infliction of emotional distress, according to court documents.

She also sued Cage for negligent supervision and negligent undertaking, as well as claiming he was aware of their son 'desperately' needing help, and that he failed to stop his behaviour from worsening.

Fulton claimed Cage and his son would drink together, which prompted their son's 'substance abuse history', as well as bailing his son out of a prison sentence on multiple occasions.

"Weston has a long history of mental and psychological disorder and a history of committing violent assault and battery and harming numerous individuals," the filing read.

"Nicolas has been aware of Weston's history and nevertheless failed to take action to prevent Weston from committing acts of violence and harming others.

"Nicolas knew or should have known that Weston posed a serious and imminent danger to others, including Plaintiff, based on his documented history of violent assaults, substance abuse, and mental instability."

Now, a new development in the case has revealed the claims against Cage have been dismissed, according to court documents seen by PEOPLE.

An attorney for Fulton has since filed the request for dismissal - meaning Cage can no longer be sued in the case.

Despite this development, Fulton is still pursuing damages from her son.

Fulton claims she sustained injuries from her son's alleged attack, including a concussion, multiple bruises, a 'disfiguring eye injury', dental trauma, as well as PTSD and other psychological damages, court documents state.

A spokesperson for Cage previously told LADbible Group: “The allegations by Christina Fulton against Nicolas Cage are absurd and frivolous. Weston Coppola is a 34-year-old man. "Mr. Cage does not control Weston's behavior in any manner and is not responsible for Weston's alleged assault of his mother."

UNILAD has reached out to Cage's representatives for further comment.
