Miley Cyrus has given a strange reason why she decided to get engaged again - and it's all to do with a bizarre phobia.

The 'Flowers' hitmaker has had a rocky road when it comes to relationships.

From dating singer-actor Nick Jonas, to actor Patrick Schwarzenegger, model Stella Maxwell, Australian singer, Cody Simpson, and her historic on-and-off entanglement with now ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth.

The pair met in 2009 while filming The Last Song, and announced their first engagement in 2012, before breaking off and rekindling their romance once more in 2016.

After losing their home in the Woolsey fire in California, Cyrus and Hemsworth finally tied the knot on December 23, 2018, in a private wedding in Nashville.

Less than a year later, the pair separated and filed for divorce, which was finalized as of January 28, 2020.

However, the 33-year-old has found happiness again with musician Maxx Morando, whom she began dating in 2021.

Now, Cyrus has revealed the pair have become engaged, with the drummer popping the question right before the Christmas period while on their vacation in Japan.

Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live this week, the Grammy winner joked that the reason she decided to get married again is that her fiancé can help her overcome her fear of paper.

"I hate paper,” she stated, adding that even looking at it makes her 'want to vomit.'

“The real problem for me with paper is when people have dry hands and they touch paper. And then it’s Christmas, and it’s cold. And everyone’s hands are dry, and they’re all touching paper,” Cyrus said.

Even a 'lovely letter' gives her agony, as she says she can't even open it.

"It’s a phobia, and I think I need help.

"I am gonna look into some sort of EMDR, being hypnotized about it because it is affecting my everyday life,” Cyrus continued.

The worst offender of all is an Amazon delivery, she says, because the packaging puts her on edge.

She added: “Someone gets an Amazon box, I’m sick, because the cardboard is the worst of it all.

“It’s extra dry and there’s packaging within it. That’s the best part, that’s really why I got engaged, because I just make my fiancé open all the packages outside."

When Kimmel raised the question of how Cyrus is going to sign her marriage certificate, the 'We Can't Stop' hitmaker revealed her solution.

The Disney star said she probably won't have an issue with it, since it's made of specific paper - and not cardboard.

“Anything that’s got a smooth surface, that’s better. And from the last, I think I remember the paper is waxed,” she joked, in reference to her marriage to Hemsworth. "But I smoked one of those imaginary joints, so I can’t really remember.”
