Lisa Marie Presley's cause of death revealed as bowel obstruction

The 54-year-old tragically passed away earlier this year, after being found at her home.

Six months after the tragic passing of Lisa Marie Presley, the cause of her death has finally been revealed.

The singer-songwriter suddenly passed away earlier this year, just days after attending the Golden Globes where a biopic on her father, Elvis, had been nominated.

Now, new information about her untimely death has come to light.

Initially, it was thought that Presley had died from a cardiac arrest after being found not breathing at her Calabasas home on January 12.

Despite receiving CPR and being taken to a local hospital, the 54-year-old passed later that day.

At the time, her mother Priscilla confirmed the tragic news in a statement to People magazine.

She told the outlet: "It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us."

"She was the most passionate strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss. Thank you for the love and prayers,” she added.

A recent report by the LA County Medical Examiner has confirmed though that Presley's death was actually due to a 'small bowel obstruction'.

Though often an occurrence after illness or medication, the report notes that her condition was a ‘consequence of a previous disease of injury’ with the obstruction ‘that developed after bariatric surgery years ago’.

"This is a known long-term complication of this type of surgery,” added Deputy Medical Examiner Dr. Juan Carrillo.

After her untimely passing, many stars shared tributes to the musician, including actor John Travolta, who wrote: “Lisa baby girl, I'm so sorry. I'll miss you but I know I'll see you again. My love and heart goes out to Riley, Priscilla, Harper and Finley."

Elvis actor Tom Hanks and his with Rita Wilson, also shared a touching tribute to Presley and added that their hearts were 'broken' by the news.

“Tom and I had spent some time with the family during the Elvis movie promotional tour," said Wilson: “Lisa was so honest and direct, vulnerable, in a state of anticipation about the movie.

“She spoke so eloquently about her father, what the movie meant to her, that it was a celebration of her dad. She had her gorgeous daughters Finley and Harper with her who made us all laugh."

“She privately showed us her home, Graceland, and she made it feel like home to us. She was so gracious to us, Austin [Butler], Baz [Luhrmann], and guests.”
