Chris Brown 'responds' to Selena Gomez's viral reaction to his MTV VMA nomination

He said he's the GOAT of music and she should mind her business.

Chris Brown has seemingly responded to Selena Gomez's viral reaction at the MTV Video Music Awards.

As the nominations were being read out for Best R&B, the camera panned to Gomez and she couldn't hide her distaste when Brown's name was read out at New Jersey’s Prudential Center.

He was nominated for his song with Chloe 'How Does It Feel'.

Selena scrunched up her face for just a second and it immediately became a huge meme.

Viewers flocked to social media to comment on Gomez’s expression, with one person writing on X: “Selena Gomez’s reaction to Chris Brown is SO FUNNY.”

Another said: “The VMAs isn't about people winning awards anymore, it's about Selena Gomez reactions.”

While a third commented: “Selena's reactions that carried the whole show will remain iconic and funny. Selena Gomez you will always be famous.”

The short clip was beamed around the world and she divided opinion on whether her reaction was warranted.

Brown has now apparently waded into the debate.

According to Rap Up, the 'With You' singer posted a now-deleted Instagram Story where he said 'I’m the GOAT, and you know it' as well as 'Let me mind my business'.

Hollywood Life says Selena has also responded to the hubbub about her reaction and commented 'who cares lol' on an Instagram post about the viral moment.

But she's clearly ticked off about the conversation surrounding it.

Gomez said she won't become a meme again.

“I will never be a meme again,” she wrote.

“I'd rather sit still than be dragged for being myself. Much love.”

It's a shame for Selena that this was one of the big talking points from her appearance at the MTV VMAs because she walked away with a big award.

The singer scooped the award for Best Afrobeats at the event thanks to her collaboration on Rema’s hit Calm Down.

Collecting her award, a visibly-emotional Gomez said: “Thank you so much, Rema, for believing in me.

“Thank you for choosing me to be part of an incredible song that has been able to break records.

“Thank all of you for listening, for streaming, I could not be more honored. I want to send all my love to Nigeria.”

You best believe that she will have the face of a mannequin at the next awards show.
