Ashton Kutcher reflected on his career while speaking to fans and pointed out one underlying issue of being good looking.

When it comes to getting acting gigs, your appearance likely plays a pretty big role since that is what people will be seeing.

It is fair enough, up to a point, that is the Hollywood business after all, and many actors most likely hope they are ‘attractive’ enough for the role - even if they do have the talent.

Well, Ashton Kutcher admitted that his own good lucks have prevented him from starring in roles he wanted.

But before you start ridiculing the 47-year-old actor for his ‘woe is me, I'm too attractive’ comments, he is more than aware that his looks have got him roles as well.

On October 11, Kutcher spoke at the New York Comic Con and discussed an upcoming project he is part of.

He said: “And so, there are roles that I’ve gotten because of the way I look and there are roles that I haven’t gotten because of the way I look. Sometimes it’s frustrating.”

He added that he feels he has missed out on weighty roles where the character is ‘down on their luck’ because of his looks.

He said that his role in the upcoming TV series The Beauty, set for a 2026 release, is complex and nuanced, and noted he now understandings casting decision better.

He added: “You’re trying to tell a story with pictures, and the pictures need to create a feeling for the audience.”

His upcoming Hulu TV show focuses on a sexually transmitted disease that makes those affected ‘beautiful’ but eventually kills the host. The characters involved do their best to uncover the truth behind the STD and get mixed up in a sinister government plot.

Speaking on his character, Kutcher said: “Without giving away too much, almost every one of us has an incredibly nuanced role where, in some way, shape or form, we’re playing something that we are or we aren’t at any given time.

“It creates this underlying ability to embody insecurities that you may have, that you hide away and you push down, and you don’t let anyone in the world see it.”

He added that his role on the series is ‘one of the great delights’ of his career.

The show is set to hit Hulu streaming in 2026.
