J. K. Rowling issues sarcastic response to fans set to boycott Harry Potter series

J.K. Rowling has issued a sarcastic response to her fans who are set to boycott the new Harry Potter TV reboot.
Earlier this month, HBO Max and Discovery+ announced the TV series was set to be released on Warner Bros’ streaming service Max with an entirely new cast.
It will be a 'faithful' adaptation of the Harry Potter books which ran for over a 10-year period, where each season will be dedicated to the seven books.

Rowling, the author of the seven books, has been dubbed a TERF by many (trans-exclusionary radical feminist) due to her controversial remarks on transgender people.
She has responded with sarcastic comments to fans of the series who have decided to boycott her upcoming TV adaptation.
She tweeted: "Dreadful news, which I feel duty bound to share. Activists in my mentions are trying to organise yet another boycott of my work, this time of the Harry Potter TV show.
"As forewarned is forearmed, I've taken the precaution of laying in a large stock of champagne.”
The tweet has garnered more than 10 million views with 13K retweets, and 163,450 likes (at the time of writing).
The billionaire author's tweet was welcomed by her fans who left positive comments in her favour.
One follower, who is ready to donate to 'gofundme', said: "The successful damage they've wrought on your career has been horrendous. Happy to chip in if you set up a gofundme."
Another person wrote: “You are our heroine in this conflict. JK’s Army perhaps? We will always be your online Defenders.”
“And I love you all for it more than I can say xxx,” Rowling replied to the tweet.
“I can only hope to see Peeves,” they tweeted, to which Rowling gave the fan a glimmer of hope. “Honestly, that's at least 50% of the reason I wanted to do it,” she said.
Moving forward, it was announced that the famous author will serve as an executive producer on the show.
Last week, HBO chief Casey Bloys answered questions about attaching JK Rowling's name to the new television remake.
According to Variety, he lashed out angrily stating 'it's a very online conversation', and said: 'No, I don’t think this is the forum'.
"That’s a very online conversation, very nuanced and complicated and not something we’re going to get into."
However, he also confirmed Rowling's position as an executive producer and said: "[Rowling] will be involved. She’s an executive producer on the show. Her insights are going to be helpful on that."
