Kim Kardashian beat Yale-educated former lawyer Hillary Clinton in a legal quiz, with competitive Clinton describing the loss as ‘heartbreaking’.

The two women went head-to-head on Hillary and her daughter, Chelsea Clinton's, upcoming documentary series Gutsy, which lands on Apple TV+ next month.

Clinton, who was a lawyer and law firm partner before becoming First Lady when her husband Bill was voted as US President in 1993, put her legal knowledge to the test against the reality star, who recently passed California’s baby bar - also known as the First Year Law Student Exam (FYLSE).

In the episode, as seen by PEOPLE, Clinton says: "I think Kim has an unfair advantage,” to which her daughter adds: "Kim has studied more recently than you."

And Clinton had every right to be concerned as she got thoroughly thrashed by Kardashian, who secured a 11-4 win. She even joked to PEOPLE that she was ‘heartbroken’ by the defeat.

During the episode, Kardashian admits that her legal studies, which she did through an apprenticeship with a law firm in San Francisco, were tough but that she preserved and passed her baby bar exam on the third try.

She revealed: "My kids were there every time I opened my results, and so they'd see me cry. And the last time, they saw me cry the best tears of happiness that I did it."

Clinton praised Kardashian’s work ethic , saying: "She worked so hard and persevered. We didn't interview her about fashion ... her many lines of commerce ... her personal life. We interviewed about what she was doing to help get people who were unjustly or unfairly incarcerated have a second chance."

While Chelsea was also quick to heap on the praise, adding: "She's very self-aware that her celebrity can make a difference positively, and where it may make a negative difference.

“She never wants to make a negative difference, so being judicious and thoughtful about when and where and how she engages was really impressive to us. I want, even beyond this series, to do whatever I can to help her in that work."

Kardashian passed the exam in December last year, in a celebratory post on Instagram, she wrote: "Looking in the mirror, I am really proud of the woman looking back today in the reflection. For anyone who doesn't know my law school journey, know this wasn't easy or handed to me.

"I got back up each time and studied harder and tried again until I did it!!!"
