Weddings are ridiculously expensive, but asking your guests to foot the bill is always going to raise a few eyebrows.
It becomes even more controversial when you are a famous celebrity couple with a massive combined net worth - which of course is exactly the bizarre situation 90210 actress AnnaLynne McCord and former English rugby player Danny Cipriani found themselves in.
The newlywed couple officially tied the knot in a Los Angeles ceremony over the weekend, and while congratulations are in order, it came shortly after they faced intense backlash online for essentially crowdfunding their big day.
The 39-year-old actress and 38-year-old sportsman directed guests to a Honeyfund registry, listing specific financial contributions people could make.

Instead of asking for a toaster, the site asked for a $100 marriage license, $125 for reception drinks, and a massive $600 for their wedding cake.
With an estimated combined net worth of around $11 million, they received heat from fans who branded them cheapskates - with some trolls taking the hate to despicable levels.
The pair did manage to successfully raise $14,200 for their wedding through the crowdfunder, but McCord revealed she actually received death threats over the disastrous fundraising attempt.
Despite raising five figures to contribute to their lavish ceremony, the Georgia native claimed she did not realize the registry website was completely open to the general public.
“Everyone was asking what they could give us. I was like, I have five blenders. I have everything for my home," she told The Sun.
"I’m getting married at 39. I don’t need another item. I am very blessed,” McCord continued.
She claimed that she only realized the massive blunder when a co-worker asked if she was genuinely crowdfunding her own wedding.
Despite the drama, the happy couple enjoyed their day - and a glowing McCord shared a video the morning after.
“I married the love of my life yesterday, and it’s real. It wasn’t a dream," she said in a somewhat unsettling video posted to her Instagram yesterday (August 23) morning - unsettling in the manner that it was almost three minutes long and consisted of deep, heavy breathing in bed.
"This love is a grace upon my being. Every moment of this creation of this ceremony, every moment of ritual. Every stolen glance, until we could just stand there holding hands looking into each other's eyes. For a frozen moment, I'd held the current of infinity."

The pair first met on the exclusive dating app Raya back in 2016, dating on-and-off before splitting up in 2020. Their romance rekindled in 2024, with Cipriani proposing on Christmas Day the following year.
