Al Pacino and Robert De Niro slammed as ‘selfish’ and ‘creepy’ for having babies in their 80s and 70s

Al Pacino and Robert De Niro have been called out for having babies later in life.

It emerged this week that the Scarface star's 29-year-old girlfriend is pregnant with their child and it will be Pacino's fourth.

De Niro welcomed his seventh child into this world last month and made the revelation during an interview for his new movie.

Pacino is 83 years old and will be 101 when his newborn turns 18.

De Niro is 79 years old and will be 97 when his little one finally hits the adult marker of 18.

Journalist Jaci Stephen has hit out at the acting pair for having kids in their 80s and 70s.

She's called them 'selfish' and 'creepy' for continuing to procreate.

"In contrast to the gushing celebrations from De Niro's celeb pals, I found the whole thing rather creepy – and not a little bit sad," she wrote in an op-ed for the Daily Mail.

"And that's because the hard reality for geriatric dads like De Niro, and now Pacino, is that they'll barely live long enough to be remembered by their new babies."

She added: "Thinking about Robert and Al getting down to business is like imagining The Muppet Show's Statler and Waldorf in the nude. It's just wrong.

"It's also rather depressing – for it shines a light on a rather uncomfortable hypocrisy when it comes to the reception of women who become mothers in older age."

The journalist even pointed to a statement from Pacino himself who lamented at his own father abandoning him at the tender age of two.

The actor told The New Yorker magazine back in 2014 how he wishes he grew up with his father in his life.

"It's the missing link," he said.

"Having children has helped a lot. I consciously knew that I didn't want to be like my dad. I wanted to be there."

Pacino and De Niro aren't the only celebrity dads who are fathering children at an older age.

People were similarly shocked when former Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone announced he was expecting his fourth child at 89.

The Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger also had his eighth child at 73.

Jaci Stephen said in her piece: "The hard reality for geriatric dads like De Niro, and now Pacino, is that they'll barely live long enough to be remembered by their new babies."
