The Last of Us video game creator has revealed there will only be a Part 3 on one condition.

Considering the first two parts have been called some of the best games and storylines in history, it's unsurprising that people want more.

Double that up with the idea that The Last of US TV show is being praised around the world and it's clear there's a big appetite for a third game.

Neil Druckmann, recently sat down with BuzzFeed to discuss plans for the next installment and it’s safe to say the man is not swayed by money.

The video game creator said that although the series has been wildly successful, there is no pressure from Sony, the game’s publisher, to create a sequel.

He added that he would only be tempted to develop Part 3 if he had a grand idea.

Otherwise, Druckmann is content if Part Two ends up being the conclusion.

He told the outlet: "Likewise, with The Last of Us, it's up to us whether we want to continue it or not.

“Our process is the same thing we did when we did Part 2, which is if we can come up with a compelling story that has this universal message and statement about love — just like the first and second game did — then we will tell that story.

“If we can't come up with something, we have a very strong ending with Part 2 and that will be the end.”

However, Druckmann might struggle to find time for Part 3 as the game developer is currently serving as showrunner for the TV adaption.

For those who have missed the first few episodes, The Last of Us follows Joel (played by Pedro Pascal), a skilled survivor, traveling through the US 20 years after a deadly and contagious fungus broke out.

During his journey, he meets Ellie (Bella Ramsey), and the two work together to survive in the dangerous post-apocalyptic world.

The series, which premiered on HBO Max on January 15, attracted a staggering 4.7 million viewers on the first day.

So far, the show has received rave reviews, with The Independent calling it 'undoubtedly a new landmark in the seemingly impossible task of adapting video games'.

While Daily Beast writer Nick Schager called it the best TV adaption of a video game series of all time.

He wrote: “As heartbreakingly faithful as it is riveting and suspenseful, The Last of Us is a triumph that ends any further debate about the all-time best video game adaptation.”
