There are nifty ways you can potentially catch out a cheating partner, and it's all with the help of Instagram.

A lot of people will use social media apps like Instagram as a means of being unfaithful to their partner. There are usually signs our significant other is cheating on Instagram as well, says The Smith Investigation Agency Inc.

Some of these include if your partner is all of a sudden guarding their phone more closely; they start hiding their screen from you; you spot deleted messages; or updates shared to the profile that make them appear to be seen.

If you're someone who suspects that something fishy is going on with your boyfriend or girlfriend's online activity, there are two specific ways you can check their Instagram accounts.

Per The Sun, on the settings page of an account is an option to see all likes and comments made by the account in question. From there, you can see the accounts most recently liked and commented on posts.

You're even able to filter the results by date — for example if you think your partner has been cheating for the last few months, you can set filter to show the results of the past year, month, or week. Otherwise you can simply look at all dates.

The same works with the comments filters.

The Smith Investigation Agency Inc. say comments and likes on a specific account can be a sign that you're partner is cheating.

The private investigation agency says: "Paying close attention to your partner’s interaction patterns on Instagram can reveal a lot. If they consistently comment on or like the posts of the same person or group of people, and these interactions seem flirtatious or overly familiar, it could be a sign of emotional infidelity."

Hidden photo tags

If you go into the settings section and search tags and mentions, you're able to see what pending tags a person has after clicking 'review tags'.

It may also be a bit fishy if someone has a lot of security on the tags such has having 'manually approve tags' on, or turning the tagging option off all together.

Other ways you can find out if your partner is cheating 'involves monitoring their activity for inconsistencies'. Some of these might be messages at odd hours, secretive behavior regarding their devices, and emotional or physical withdrawal, explains The Smith Investigation Agency Inc.
