AI recreates Harry Potter set in Poland and people aren’t happy

The 'bot's take on the movie franchise divided opinion

AI has another hot take on the wizarding world of Harry Potter that's dividing opinion over on Reddit - and this time it's set in Poland.

The AI video, which created by @SwoleAI, titled: 'Harry Potter and the Alcoholic's Kidney Stone', was only posted on Friday (16 June) but already has 10.5K likes after being shared on the subreddit, MidJourney.

The one minute and 18 seconds essentially covers parts of the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

It shows Hagrid revealing to Harry that he's a wizard - a little more gruffly than he does in the book - covers their first 'alcohol class' and making vodka, before going right up to Ron and Harry saving a tracksuit-clad Hermione from a troll and being docked house points by Professor McGonagall.

Some found the unique Polish take hilarious, with one Redditer commenting: "This video was funnier than any stupid Marvel quip they've written in the past 10 years."

While another said: "Midjourney shorts are getting so damn good. I can't wait till it's more mature to produce entire movies.

"Eventually we're gonna have entire films limited only by your genius (and ability to write prompts!). Definitely excited to see what's in store!"

A third, presumably a Polish commenter, said: "We call it an ordinary Monday in Poland"

Others, however, threw doubt on just how 'Polish' the video is.

The video covers parts of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone - but in Poland.

"This feels more russian than polish. Expecialy the overuse of the words b***h, vodka and characters costumed in Nike jumpsuits [sic]," said one.

Another said: "why is there so much vodka?! it’s like from poland there’s only kurwa and pjerdole, and the rest is russian."

While a third levelled: "Why the person who made it thinks that Poland = Russia? Lol"

And a fourth said that the inclusion of tracksuits felt more 'Russian than Polish'.

Another AI take on a show that nobody asked for, Family Guy, also unofficially joined the AI wave in a Twitch stream, which has since been taken down.

The AI parody of Family Guy has been banned on Twitch after it was created on June 7, 2023 by streamer AI_Peter.

The channel is now ‘temporarily unavailable’ because the Family Guy AI stream violated the website’s ‘Community Guidelines and Terms of Service’, according to the message displayed when trying to access the channel.

With no connection to either Fox or the original show's creator, Seth MacFarlane, the AI take sparked controversy because of racist hate comments, bomb threats, doxing and other miscellaneous red-flagged content in the June 14 broadcast.
