A person recalled the seemingly traumatic moment they returned back to their body after going through a near-death experience.

Having a near-death experience can produce some very strange memories as people try to make sense of what they encountered.

Whether it's going into a coma, being hit by a car, or being clinically 'dead' for an extended period, people recount all kinds of weird things.

While some might give us a sense of comfort, for example, feeling as though they had encountered loved ones or that their religious or spiritual beliefs were rewarded, others have more alarming experiences.

Many people believe that near-death experiences provide us with evidence of an afterlife, while others say that they are our brain's way of comforting us, and itself, in our final moments.

This person took the Reddit thread for near-death experiences and shared a slightly alarming account of their own.

Describing how 'returning' to their body felt, they wrote: "For me, it was a re-entry through fire. I thought I was burning up inside after growing so huge and being squashed back into my body."

Recalling the medication they received, they added: "It was as if fire ants had suddenly invaded my body. Maybe that was from the adrenaline shot.

"I thought I was back from the afterlife; I was already back in my body, and then the angel and the rain came and sucked me right back in because I was trying to detach myself again."

And it didn't stop right away either, they explained, saying: "For days afterward, I kept having the feeling that I was floating away again, but also that concrete was pulling me down."

Others also took to the comments underneath to share their own experiences of 'coming back' into their bodies.

One wrote: "You know how when you spend a few hours swimming in a pool and you feel weightless and then you get out of the pool and you feel all heavy?

"It was like that for me. Coming back into my body felt heavy and dense, just like that."

Others said it felt like coming back from a very deep sleep, writing: "For me it was like slowly waking from a deep sleep first hearing , then eyes opening then slow realization of situation, then the pain started."

There was also someone who felt like they were not coming from water, but the sky.

They wrote: "I had the sensation of falling at a very high speed from the sky. Before I opened my eyes i heard a beautiful, angelic music or choirs in my left ear."
