A man who fatally shot and killed his dad before decapitating him after his father voiced his complaints that he was 'becoming the next Donald Trump', has been sentenced.

In January last year, Justin D. Mohn murdered his dad, Michael F. Mohn, a former engineer with the geoenvironmental section of the US Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District.

After slaying him, the 33-year-old - who was living under his parents' roof at the time of the killing - posted a harrowing video on YouTube which depicted him holding his severed dad's head while making demands.

The sickening 14-minute recording, which the deranged killer titled 'Mohn's Militia - Call To Arms for American Patriots', saw him call for federal employees to resign and cancelation to public debt - among other things.

The Bucks County, Pennsylvania, man was was sentenced yesterday (July 11) to life in prison without the possibility of parole

Judge Stephen Corr imposed two life sentences on Mohn for first- and-second-degree murder, as well as 10 other counts - including decapitation, and terrorism after he posted the video online.

In his sentencing, he touched on the horror Mohn inflicted on his parents and family, noting that they provided him unconditional love and support throughout his entire life.

"What you did to your mother is unspeakable," he said.

On top of the life sentences, he was also sentenced to a maximum of 40 years on the remaining charges.

Mohn has since revealed why he carried out the act before subsequently posting it online, claiming that he took matters into his own hands as he claims his father had wanted to prevent him from becoming the next Donald Trump, reports the New York Post.

In court he mentioned how he took a different political stance from his parents, describing them as left-wing, and that he believed his dad was trying to prevent him from becoming a political leader.

While in the stand he denied murdering his father and said the slaying was 'plan B' after an attempted 'citizen's arrest' on his dad went awry.

“Unfortunately, he resisted,” he said, adding: “I was hoping to perform a citizen’s arrest on my father for, ultimately, treason," as per ABC News.

The altercation allegedly broke out after Michael had threatened him and tried to take away his 9mm handgun, according to Mohn.

Responding to questions from his attorney, Mohn said he gunned down his dad from the bathroom of the Levittown home.

“I unfortunately had to use deadly force,” Mohn told Bucks County Court in Pennsylvania.
