A man who beheaded his father and posted the footage online has revealed the harrowing reason why he did it.

In January 2024, Justin D. Mohn posted a harrowing video where he claimed he'd murdered and beheaded his own father.

In the sickening 14-minute footage, titled 'Mohn's Militia - Call To Arms for American Patriots', which was promptly removed by YouTube, Mohn held up a plastic bag which he said held the severed head. The head was also pictured inside a cooking pot.

Shortly after, police found the victim's headless body, identified as 68-year-old Michael F. Mohn, a former engineer with the geoenvironmental section of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District, and determined he had been fatally shot before the beheading.

Now, the Pennsylvania man charged with the murder has revealed why he carried out his sick act and uploaded the content online.

Mohn claimed he took matters into his own hands as he claims his father had wanted to prevent him from becoming the next Donald Trump, reports the New York Post.

In another shocking revelation, he said he uploaded the disturbing content online because he knew it would 'go viral' - and hoped it would send a message to the federal government.

In the video, he ranted about immigration, fiscal policy, crime, Joe Biden, the LGBTQ+ community and the war in Ukraine, while dubbing his father as a 20-year federal employee a 'traitor'.

However, the 33-year-old denied murdering his dad from the stand and said the slaying was 'plan B' after an attempted 'citizen's arrest' on his dad went awry.

“Unfortunately, he resisted,” he said, adding: “I was hoping to perform a citizen’s arrest on my father for, ultimately, treason," as per ABC News.

The altercation allegedly broke out after Michael had threatened him and tried to take away his 9mm handgun, according to Mohn.

Responding to questions from his attorney, Mohn said he gunned down his dad from the bathroom of the Levittown home.

“I unfortunately had to use deadly force,” Mohn told Buck’s County Court in Pennsylvania.

The courtroom then saw from Mohn's notebook that had the words 'Boom' and 'Slice' as his 'Plan B'.

The accused said he took a different political stance from his parents, describing them as left-wing, and that he believed his dad was trying to prevent him from becoming a political leader.

This is also what seemingly led him to decapitate his dad's head, as he said he wanted to send a message to the government to meet his demands, which ranged from their resignation to the cancellation of public debt.

“I knew something such as a severed head would not only go viral but could lessen the violence,” he explained, while his mom Denice Mohn could be heard sobbing in court.

Mohn then claimed his act wasn't motivated by hatred for his father or to cause trauma.

However, the prosecution said the homicide was 'cold, calculated' and an 'organized plan' that was 'something straight out of a horror film'.

The suspect was arrested the same day he uploaded the footage and was caught scaling a fence at Fort Indiantown Gap, the state’s National Guard headquarters, where he called for others to join him in trying to overthrow the US government.

Mohn had also had a brush with law enforcement for some of his online posts prior to the murder.
