Police have released tragic details after a woman was found dead on a yacht in New York.

Police were called to a scene on a vessel docked at the Montauk Yacht Club where a 33-year-old woman was discovered deceased yesterday (August 5).

Those who found the unconscious woman reportedly administered CPR on her but sadly, she went on to be pronounced dead by First Responders.

"Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating after a Manhattan woman was found dead on a boat docked in Montauk this morning," law enforcement said in a statement released yesterday.

The deceased woman has since been named as Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra, a fashion designer and founder of the brand East x East.

"Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra, 33, of Manhattan, New York, was pronounced dead on the boat by First Responders," police said. "The preliminary investigation and exam were inconclusive regarding the cause of death, which will be determined by an autopsy conducted by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office."

Montauk Yacht Club has responded to the news of Nolan-O'Slatarra's passing, saying, as per Fox News: "We are saddened to learn of the incident that took place. Our team is cooperating with law enforcement in their ongoing investigation and remains committed to the safety and well-being of our guests and staff.

"We have no further comment at this time."

The designer's death has shaken the local community of Montauk, an affluent area of the Hamptons, where people have described Nolan-O'Slatarra as being 'very friendly' and 'always smiling'.

"There’s going to be a lot of conversation out of this," an anonymous member of the yacht club told the New York Post.

Nolan-O'Slatarra was born in Ireland relocated to the States at the age of 26.

It was just three years ago that she launched East X East, which recently had a pop up store in the Hamptons, per the designer's TikTok page.

Sharing a video of the temporary store, Nolan-O'slatarra wrote: "POV: The Brand you started 3 years ago has a Pop Up in the Hamptons."

The video has been watched 6,000 times at the time of writing.
