Timothée Chalamet made a nervous acceptance speech and Amanda Seyfried admitted one part of it confused her.

Chalamet took to the stage after winning the Critic’s Choice Award for Best Actor in a move that surprised the 30-year-old actor.

Chalamet won it for his leading role in film Marty Supreme, which focuses on an ambitious table tennis player making a name for himself in the 1950s.

Stumbling over his words slightly, the star admitted that he had a lot of people to thank and didn't know whether he’d be up on the podium again, so wanted to take full advantage.

He thanked his fellow nominees, including Michael B Jordan and his film’s director, Josh Safdie, before turning his praise to his long-term girlfriend, Kylie Jenner.

In his speech, he said: “Damn, I'm more nervous than I thought I'd be.

“[Josh] you made a story about the relatable dream and you didn't preach to the audience about what's right and wrong. I think you should all be telling stories like that, so thank you for this dream.”

Thanking Jenner, he continued: “Thank you to my partner of three years. Thank you for our foundation. I love you. I couldn't do this without you."

While some users took to social media to remark at how surprised they were that the couple had been together for a whole three years, others were admittedly confused for a different reason.

Seyfried, who also attended the award show, took to Instagram to admit this little shoutout confused her.

On a video of the acceptance speech, she wrote: “Oh not like a foundation/charity I was curious about that.”

Hilariously, other social media users also admitted they thought Chalamet was shouting out a charity rather than speaking of the ‘foundations’ of his relationship with Jenner.

On Reddit, one user agreed and wrote: “Same. thought he was thanking a non profit foundation partner until he said I love you.”

Another added: “Same, I was shooketh and had to do a double take! So didnt he mean like…. The foundations of their relationship???

A third commented: “Why did I think it was a dig at her heavy makeup.”

With another responding to this hilariously noting: “Why would a man make fun of his partner’s perfectly normal glam makeup on stage while accepting a professional award.”

And a fifth person simply commenting: “The way i thought the exact same thing, Amanda.”
