The Miami Police Department have unveiled a new luxury car, which they hope will aid recruitment to the force.

Miami Beach Police have been branded ‘unserious’, after they posted a video to X (formerly Twitter) showcasing their new recruitment tool.

The car comes in the form of a flashy $250,000 Rolls Royce, which has been kitted out for them to use as a working cop car.

The car is on loan from Braman Motors, in an effort to attract more law enforcement workers to the team.

In a statement on X, Miami Beach Police Department said: “MBPD and professional staff exemplify the highest standards of dedication and quality policing in our unparalleled commitment to the residents and visitors we serve.

“We are thrilled to introduce this stunning addition to the MBPD recruitment team - courtesy of Braman Motors.”

The video showcased the luxury vehicle, with two police officers on motorcycles either side.

People in the comments weren’t too pleased about the ‘out of touch’ move from the police.

One person said: “Folks are going bankrupt due to medical expenses, and children are going to bed without a hot meal.”

It’s clear that the taxpayers feel as though their money could be spent more wisely, but the police department promised that no public funding had gone towards the car loan.

Another person said: “Imagine getting arrested and put in a Rolls Royce.

“I would be even more irritated honestly.”

Following the backlash, Miami Beach Police Chief Wayne Jones told WSVN 7 News: “Recruiting police officers in this country today is a difficult thing to do.

“Using this car to help us do recruitment is gonna be great.”

Radio host Grant Stern posted underneath the obnoxious video, saying: “How do you make an entire city look grossly out of touch with reality (because it is)???”

The Miami Herald reported that the 2012 Rolls Royce will eventually be given back to the dealership, and whilst in the hands of the police force, the gas and maintenance will be handled by Braman.

This means that the car will come at no cost to the taxpayer.

Braman Motors is owned by Miami billionaire Norman Braman, who posted on Instagram that it is a sponsorship for promotional purposes in compliance with City of Miami Beach Policy.

Some people actually stood up for the police department, one said: “Okay, so it was a donation.

“People are saying you guys spent money on this thing.

    “Drama queens.”
