Greg Biffle's house burglarized three weeks after NASCAR legend died alongside family in plane crash

The NASCAR driver died alongside his wife Cristina and two children, Ryder and Emma, on December 18.

The home of the late NASCAR legend Greg Biffle has been burglarized just weeks after he and his family perished in a deadly plane crash, authorities have confirmed.

Thieves stole $30,000 in cash and a $30 backpack from the home he shared with his wife Cristina Grossu Biffle and their two children, according to a police report.

Authorities were first alerted to the crime on Thursday January 8, after Cristina’s mother Cathy Grossu raised the alarm.

Officers from Iredell County Sheriff’s Office then arrived at the Biffle estate on Doolie Road in Mooresville, N.C at around 6:23pm to investigate.

Two guns and NASCAR memorabilia were also reported as possibly missing from the Biffle home, with the sheriff’s office now working with race teams in the area to try and track down the missing property to determine if they were stolen.

“Currently, no arrest has been made,” a spokesperson for the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “Investigators are continuing to review all evidence, including digital and other available information, as the case remains under investigation.”

The shocking theft comes less than a month after Biffle was killed in a plane crash alongside his wife Cristina, son Ryder and daughter Emma on December 18.

The family tragically passed away alongside three other unnamed individuals after their plane crashed shortly after take off.

The Cessna C550 was flying to Sarasota, Florida, when it took off from Statesville Regional Airport, about an hour outside of Charlotte, North Carolina, according to data from FlightAware.

However, during the flight, the journey was averted, with the plane turning around and attempting to land.

It crashed at around 10:15am, and immediately burst into flames.

The Statesville Regional Airport confirmed the crash in a statement, saying: “We can confirm there has been an aircraft incident at the Statesville Regional Airport. At approximately 10:15 a.m., an aircraft crashed while landing. The Federal Aviation Administration is en route and will investigate the incident.”

An investigation by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) into the crash is currently underway.

In addition to his work as a driver, Biffle was also known for his big heart and previously worked as a humanitarian/rescue pilot, flying Hurricane Helene relief missions into western North Carolina.
