A Family Feud contestant who was convicted of his wife's murder has revealed why he gave a shocking answer on the game show.

Timothy Bliefnick was one of the contestants who took part in the daytime game show back in an episode which aired in January 2020.

While Family Feud has seen many contestants come and go, alongside some brutal jokes or censored moments, Bliefnick's appearance has left viewers particularly haunted as a result of a comment he made about his wife while on the show.

When Bliefnick appeared on the show, host Steve Harvey asked: "What's the biggest mistake you made at your wedding?"

Bliefnick's fellow contestants gave their various answers, Bliefnick said: "Honey, I love you, but 'Said I do'."

Cue groans from the audience, with Bliefnick adding: "Not my mistake, not my mistake - I love my wife."

Three years later, Rebecca Postle Bliefnick - Bliefnick's wife and the mother of their three children - was killed in a home invasion.

In March 2023, Bliefnick was arrested on charges of home invasion and first-degree murder and in May, he was found guilty and sentenced to life behind bars.

And on an episode of CBS' 48 Hours, Bliefnick reflected on the comment he made on the game show.

Maintaining his innocence, stating he 'did not murder' his wife, Bliefnick said: "It wasn’t said with any malice or bad intentions. It was supposed to be funny."

Rebecca was found dead on her bathroom floor at her home in Quincy, Illinois, by her father, William Postle.

During Bliefnick's sentencing, prosecutors accused him of using Google to research how to murder his wife.

Judge Robert Adrian said: "Mr. Bliefnick, you researched this murder. You planned this murder. You practiced this murder. You broke into her house, and you shot her one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 times.

"I don’t know how long it took you to do that, but some of those shots were fired while she was lying on the ground and you did all of that while your children were upstairs at your house, lying snug in their beds."

Court records showed Rebecca and Bliefnick were in the process of getting a divorce, Rebecca having filed for an order of protection from her husband in 2021.
