A Family Feud contestant is going viral after he congratulated himself over a brutal takedown of his wife.

From a former contestant being sentenced to life in prison for killing his wife to host Steve Harvey being censored, it’s fair to say Family Feud has had its share of jaw-dropping moments.

The TV show, created by Mark Goodson, first aired in the US in 1976 and has run for a whopping 25 seasons, spawning several regional adaptations.

Harvey, 67, has been at the helm of Family Feud since taking over from John O’Hurley in 2010 and has recently found himself at the centre of a viral social media clip.

Earlier this year, a former contestant named Robbie ‘Bob’ Weatherspoon took to TikTok to post a hilarious interaction he and Harvey shared.

At the beginning of the video, which has amassed over 567,000 views since it was posted in January, the host asks Bob: “What do you do for a living?”

In response, the Family Feud hopeful says: “Well, I’m retired. I play a lot of golf and I just recently celebrated my 49th wedding anniversary.”

The contender’s answer was met by a raucous round of applause from the studio audience as Harvey remarked: “Wow, that’s pretty good.”

After soaking up the atmosphere, Bob continued to say that relationships aren’t ‘easy’ and that he is expected to take his spouse on ‘great trips’ abroad.

“For our 25th I took her to China,” he claimed. “And next year, I’m going to go and pick her up.”

Hoots of laughter were heard while Harvey fixed Bob with an incredulous look as he clapped along with the audience.

The camera then panned to a woman, who users have assumed is the contestant’s wife gleefully smiling in the spectators' section.

“Dude, you been sitting around writing these jokes man ?” laughed Harvey.

After watching the clip, one X user wrote: “The people who thought this was ‘brutal’ never heard Milton Berle, Groucho Marks, Rodney Dangerfield, Redd Foxx, so many FUNNY guys.”

A second said: “He waited his whole life to tell that joke.”

“He was waiting for his chance,” commented a third.

Another user penned on TikTok: “I feel like a old woman laughing loud on her phone.”

“Starts clapping himself after he says it is crazy,” laughed a fifth.
