JoJo Siwa changes name ahead of New Year amid 'beautiful' romance with Chris Hughes

JoJo Siwa sent fans into a frenzy at the end of 2025 when she suddenly changed her name on TikTok while sharing her excitement for the year ahead.

Siwa rounded off the year with a post to her 46 million followers shared on December 31, which showed her mouthing along to a track which said: “I don't really care about what they say, I'mma come back like a boomerang.”

Alongside the post, she wrote: “What a year it is ahead [love heart emoji].”

The post comes as Siwa continues to share insights into her life alongside Love Island star Chris Hughes, who she met when they both appeared on Celebrity Big Brother last year.

On December 28, Siwa shared a TikTok in which she described the year she met Hughes as 'beautiful', adding: “Couldn't count all the highs if you asked me to.”

With the new year officially upon us, the Dance Moms star appears to be taking the 'new year, new me' trend literally as she updated the name on her TikTok bio.

Where previously she went by JoJo Siwa, the bio now reads 'Joelle Siwa'.

Joelle is Siwa's full first name, and her changing back to it might allude to the idea that she's 'coming back like a boomerang', as Siwa said in her New Year's Eve post.

The sudden rebrand sent fans into a frenzy, with many sharing their excitement over what they might see from 'Joelle' going forward.

“Her changing her name from jojo to Joelle has to be the biggest pull ever!!!” one fan wrote. “2026 is gonna be crazy!!!”

“2026: the year of JOELLE Siwa,” another added, as a third wrote: “Joelle feels so authentic, wishing you every happiness in 2026.”

Siwa's name change comes after she announced in 2025 that she'd changed the way she identifies sexually, having previously described herself as a lesbian.

Speaking to E! News in June, she explained: “I think the most beautiful term now is queer. I think queer is an umbrella of, ‘Look, I'm just me.’ And I think the most beautiful thing about the LGBTQIA community is love is love. And that goes both ways.”

As for her relationship with Hughes, she added: “I feel so in the right position for myself. I feel so content with my happiness... What I realized with Christopher is I never have second guessed my feelings for him. Therefore, I've never second guessed my happiness, I've never second guessed what I'm feeling. And I think that's the most beautiful thing.

“When I think about him, I'm full of pure joy. When I speak about him, I'm full of pure joy.”
