Trump brutally called out for sharing fake Wiki page that labels him 'acting president of Venezuela'

The president has previously said that the US would be 'running' Venezuela

Donald Trump has been criticized by many online after sharing a fake Wikipedia page that states he's the 'acting president of Venezuela'.

The Trump administration launched an attack on the Venezuelan capital of Caracas earlier this month and captured President Nicolás Maduro.

Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, have been charged with a series of criminal charges, which include: narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy, possession of machine guns and destructive devices, and conspiracy to possess machine guns and destructive Devices against the United States.

The Venezuelan leader has pleaded not guilty and insisted he's 'still president'.

At a press conference after the attack on Venezuela, Trump announced that the US would be 'running' Venezuela, despite Delcy Rodríguez being formally sworn in as acting president of the country.

Trump told The Atlantic that Rodríguez could pay 'a very big price' if she does not 'do what's right' and cooperate with his demands to hand over Venezuela's nationalized oil industry to US business interests, after they were expropriated over 20 years ago.

While Maduro's ally is running things on a temporary basis, Trump seemingly believes he's in charge of the South American nation after sharing a fake Wikipedia page on his Truth Social that claims he's the 'acting president of Venezuela'.

Many have flocked to X to call out Trump and his communications team for the social media post.

"His narcissism knows no limits," one person commented.

A second added: "Biggest deranged troll in America."

Meanwhile, a third quipped: "What an absolute disgrace and embarrassment."

Someone else simply wrote: "Delusional."

While tensions rise there, Trump continues to reiterate his plan to take over the Danish territory of Greenland in the future.

Speaking to press aboard Air Force One on Sunday (January 11), the president made it clear he believes that if the US doesn't annexe Greenland, then China or Russia would.

He also took aim at NATO, the alliance which the US are a part of.

"I'm not going to let that happen. One way or the other, we're going to have Greenland," the president added.

"Maybe NATO would be upset if I did it… we'd save a lot of money. I like NATO. I just wonder whether or not if needed NATO would they be there for us? I'm not sure they would."

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt previously said that 'a range of options' remain open for Trump, including 'military force' when it comes to acquiring Greenland.

The move has been widely condemned by leaders across the globe.

UNILAD has contacted the White House for comment.
