Staggering new Trump approval ratings show what the US really thinks of him with shock results from one state

New ratings regarding Donald Trump's role as president have dropped in recent months, according to data released this week.

Earlier this month, a rating poll was conducted five months after the former businessman re-entered the Oval Office, and the results weren't looking good.

Prior to that poll, Trump faced a lot of criticism for his presidential decisions, such as his new 'Big Beautiful Bill' and his deployment of the National Guard following the LA protests surrounding his immigration laws.

Now, a survey by the Emerson College Polling revealed that 45 percent of voters approve of Trump as president, while 46 percent disapprove and nine percent are unsure.

While the figures are close, Daily Boulder reports that Trump had a 49 percent approval back in January.

Meanwhile, 53 percent of those surveyed believe the country is 'on the wrong track' and 48 percent think the opposite, believing that the US is heading in the right direction.

“Looking ahead to next year’s Midterm Election, the Democrats have a slight edge over the Republicans, with independents breaking for the Democratic candidate 37% to 27%,” said Spencer Kimball, who is the executive director of Emerson College Polling. “However, a significant 36% of independents are undecided, so this number is expected to shift.”

A second poll painted a similar picture, with data from the University of Texas and Texas Politics Project Poll finding approval has fallen to 44 percent while 51 percent disapprove.

The Texas poll is particularly significant due to the state being traditionally Republican stronghold.

Fox reports that 51 percent of those surveyed in the Texas poll disapproved with Trump's performance on the economy, while 39 percent approved.

Meanwhile, 52 percent disapproved with inflation and prices, while 34 percent approved. The majority of those who criticised the President were Democrats, however, Republicans in Texas now approve of Trump at 87 percent - down from 89 percent in April.

The poll was carried out prior to Trump getting involved in the conflict between Iran and Israel, which saw him broker a ceasefire between the two countries earlier this week.

Just days earlier, Trump had launched an air strike on three Iranian nuclear sites followed by Iran retaliating with its own air strike on a US air base in Qatar. The Ain al-Asad airbase in Western Iraq was also reportedly targeted.

Addressing this at a NATO summit this week, Trump claimed that Iran forewarned them about their attack.

"They were very nice. They gave us warning," said Trump. "They said, 'We’re going to shoot them. Is 1 o’clock okay?' I said, 'It’s fine'." he said.

"Everybody was emptied off the base so they couldn't get hurt, expect for the gunners. Out of 14 high-end missiles that were shot at the base in Qatar, all 14 (as you know) were shot down by our equipment. Amazing stuff.

"It's like shooting a bullet with a bullet. It's the same thing, if you think about it. 14 out of 14 and they weren't even that surprised. I said 'Do you do that well often?' and they said 'We pretty much do, sir'."
