Expert issues severe warning for 'Arctic Hurricane' set to hit US with dangerous subzero temperatures

The US is in for yet more extreme cold weather in the coming days

An expert has issued a warning that parts of the US could be in for a winter 'hurricane' as yet more freezing weather pounds the US.

Ryan Hall is a YouTuber who specializes in analyzing the weather forecast, being dubbed the 'internet's weather man'.

In a video posted to his social media channel, Hall warned that the US is about to be hit by a 'bomb cyclone', which will develop over the Atlantic Ocean this week.

A 'bomb cyclone' is a winter storm which grows as air pressure drops.

Parts of the east coast are set to be caught in the spirals of this storm, with Hall warning that this could mean those areas are in for heavy snow as a result of their location.

Analyzing of the coming storm on Tuesday, Hall said: That's pretty much a hurricane.

"Whoever ends up on the western side of that in the cold area is going to get absolutely clobbered with snow."

Warning of how the storm forms to begin with, Hall said: "Another arctic blast is going to come around the backside of this low-pressure system, probably the most powerful one of the year so far, and it's going to plummet temperatures down 30 degrees below average."

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Hall said: "We've got to make sure people know that they've got to find alternative ways to heat their house.

"And if they don't have that, then staying in their house is not a safe, viable option. We've got to really help people find shelters."

It comes as emergency weather warnings went out across multiple US states ahead of a ferocious winter storm, affecting huge swathes of the mainland US.

Some 17 states issued a state of emergency warning ahead of the storm hitting, including Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, DC and Virginia.

But the cold weather is not done yet, with this storm forecast to strengthen over the weekend.

Carl Erickson is the Director of Forecasting Operations at AccuWeather and put out a statement warning of the potential impact that the storm could have.

He said: "There is an increasing risk for a rapidly strengthening coastal storm this weekend. Communities along the East Coast still digging out and cleaning up from last weekend’s storm could be hit again with more snow."

According to the National Weather Service, there are warnings in place for 'extreme cold' in central Indiana, moving into counties in central Ohio as well.
