Bizarre video of ‘alien’ riding New York subway leaves people confused

The now-viral video first emerged on Twitter, with people now claiming it's part of a guerrilla marketing campaign for a sci-fi film.

You might have heard of little green men from Mars, but what about Manhattan?

While it’s unclear whether the extra-terrestrial made it to the Upper East Side, footage of the ‘alien’ on the New York subway has appeared online.

Though the clip has gone viral on Twitter and people are a little confused, sadly it’s not a case for Mulder and Scully. Take a look below:

It’s not surprising that the video has captured the public’s imagination on social media, with the increased interest in aliens in recent years.

Last month, the US Congress heard the testimony of retired Major David Grusch who alleged that the government was in possession of ‘intact and partially intact’ spacecraft.

In a moment that wouldn’t have been out of place on The X Files, the retired officer turned whistleblower claimed to have interviewed people who’d seen ‘nonhuman biologics’.

He told attendees: “I have to be very careful here ... [but] what I personally witnessed, myself and my wife, was very disturbing.”

A month later, footage has emerged of an ‘alien’ on NYC’s subway has gone viral.

Shown with a large-bald head, black eyes and blue-green skin, the otherworldly visitor looked exactly how you’d imagine aliens to look.

If that weren’t weird enough, New Yorkers looked on in shock as the small creature walked around in a baggy t-shirt, which had a picture of Earth and read: “Love your mother.”

The alien was spotted quietly riding the subway.

While you might want to believe, the ‘alien’ is thought to be part of a guerilla marketing campaign to promote the new film, Jules.

Despite this, people are still reacting online.

After seeing the clip on TikTok, one person wrote: "They are preparing us for reality," while another added: “Stay Awake”.

However, on Twitter people didn’t seem so easily convinced.

One user asked: “So... are they among us? Did they come in peace? Looking for a home? If it were a reality, I'm surprised by people's curiosity.”

Meanwhile, another person joked about how cynical New Yorkers were and wrote: "Aliens could be walking among us and we wouldn't bat an eye because we would be saying, ‘Damn, that's a cool costume!’”

For those still eager to see more of the little green man, Jules was released earlier this month and comedy about aliens landing in rural Pennsylvania.

The sci-fi flick centres around homeowner Milton Robinson, with the 79-year-old more than a little shocked when the UFO crash lands in his garden.

Though the production team haven't confirmed that this was them promoting the film, the alien looks uncannily similar to his on-screen counterpart.

But, we still want to believe though.
