Chilling new footage captured shortly before rapper Takeoff was shot dead this week shows him standing next to Quavo, his uncle and fellow Migos bandmate, seconds before he was killed in Texas.

Also seen in the video is a glimpse of a man dressed in all black and holding a gun.

The individual has not yet been identified by police and is a person of interest in the shooting.

Reporting on the video, first published by TMZ, the Daily Beast confirmed a law enforcement official had told them the man holding the firearm is being considered a person of interest.

The group Takeoff was with could be heard arguing about basketball and ‘disrespecting’ before the sound of gunfire rang out.

On Tuesday (2 November) it was confirmed that the rapper was killed by a stray bullet.

Authorities responded to reports of a shooting at a Houston bowling alley in the early hours of 1 November.

One of the victims was found dead upon arrival and Houston Police Chief Troy Finner later confirmed this was Takeoff, whose real name is Kirshnik Khari Ball.

According to police, the shooting erupted after an argument and despite there being around 40 at the scene at the time, most fled and did not give a statement.

Takeoff was a member of rap trio Migos along with his uncle and cousin.

Police also said investigators had no reason to believe Takeoff was involved in anything criminal at the time of the shooting.

Takeoff's record label also confirmed the rapper was killed by a bullet not intended for him in a statement that read in part: “Senseless violence and a stray bullet has taken another life from this world and we are devastated.

“Please respect his family and friends as we continue to process this monumental loss.”

Celebrity tributes have poured in since Takeoff’s death was announced.

Fellow rapper Desiigner took to social media in tears, saying he was going to quit music because of the shooting.

He could be heard shouting: "Why, why, why do we do this? Why do we do this?"

Taking to Instagram, Kylie Jenner wrote: "So many prayers. God cover this family. Heartbreaking. Gone too soon. Devastating.”

Drake added: "I got the best memories of all of us seeing the world together and bringing light to every city we touch. That’s what I’ll focus on for now. Rest easy space man.”

“So sad, Migos songs soundtracked a lot of my favourite moments. May God have mercy on his soul,” penned AJ Tracey.
