Video of cave explorer getting stuck alone is triggering people's claustrophobia

The anxiety-inducing video was posted to Reddit

It’s the plot of many a horror film: an explorer gets trapped in a cave with no way of escape.

While he might not have had to avoid things that go bump in the night, one man has gone viral after a creepy clip showed him getting caught between the rock and water below.

Understandably, the video has been triggering many people's claustrophobia after it was uploaded to YouTube by ActionAdventureTwins.

In a scene not dissimilar to The Descent (2005), the video shows the man pulling his way through the cave when he realizes the ceiling is a lot lower than he expected.

“I thought it was going to get wider but as I’m getting closer, I realise it’s an illusion,” he tells his camera.

As if to emphasise how alone he is, his voice echoes around the small chamber as darkness surrounds him.

It makes for eerie viewing as he drags himself along, with his back scratching the surface of the cave system.

“It’s getting lower…I feel like I’m gonna get stuck,” he says, clearly exhausted from struggling to break free.

However, he carries on forcing his way through in a clip that would give the 2005 horror a run for its money.

Luckily, the man manages to make it out and says: "I think I pushed it too far that time."

The terrifying clip was later shared on Reddit - gaining over 2,500 comments after being posted.

Understandably, many people experience intense claustrophobia after watching the video.

One wrote: “These videos create the most visceral terror in me, I can't imagine even thinking about trying it.”

Several users questioned also why you’d explore caves for fun - which is also known as spelunking.

Another added: “Makes me grateful that I get an adrenaline rush simply from speaking to 2-3 people at once vs the need to do something like this.”

A third brave soul even shared their own bad experience while cave exploring, writing: “I have been spelunking before and got trapped behind a bigger guy and couldn’t back out. The terror is worse than you’re imagining. Never. Ever. Again."

As if that wasn’t nightmare fuel enough, they also revealed how anxiety-inducing the moment was, saying: “The worst part, was feeling heat even though it was cold af. The longer you’re stuck in that position the more hot you get.”

Maybe we’ll just stick to sports above the surface instead.
