The Simpsons fans in stitches at morbid Marge quote from childhood favourite game

Twitter fans were left in stitches after an old clip of The Simpsons: Road Rage came to show Marge's dark humour.

Have you ever come across something from your childhood and been utterly floored? Well, that’s what fans of this beloved cartoon have experienced.

Someone must have searched high and low through the archives of old PlayStation 2 games to find this gem to share with us, as a forgotten Simpsons joke has resurfaced.

The Simpsons: Road Rage is based on the cartoon television series The Simpsons and this retro game allows you to drive around in Springfield on a crazy adventure.

The game was a childhood classic.

Designed for children and families to play, the story takes you through Mr. Burns buying all transport systems in the small town in order to create radioactive buses that are a hazard to all who take a ride.

So, the citizens of Springfield go on strike and only use their own cars to get around, having to earn money to pay back Burns to get rid of the radioactive buses once and for all.

No, this isn’t a horror storyline, it really is the childhood family show we know and love.

But in the midst of all of this driving about, fans who took another look at the game noticed some seriously dark humour sprinkled in (thanks Matt Groening).

As part of the gameplay involves picking up passengers to earn money as a taxi driver, our favourite oldie, Hans Moleman is a goldmine for questionable quotes.

You might know some gems which include the lines: “All I know is pain,” and “I have fluid in my lungs.”

This time, however, it was our Marge who landed the final blow on Moleman.

In a cut scene where your driver character does particularly bad and leaves your passenger dissatisfied with your driving skills, this old man asks that you, “please kill me.”

But what you might not have expected was our favourite TV mum to be the one to reply.

Blue-haired Marge didn’t hold back, replying: “That poor man, I hope someone does kill him.”

This infamous quote has rightfully left fans of the game in shock and stitches as they wonder how on earth they missed it as a kid.

Twitter fans loved the game, especially the jokes.

Reactions such as 'HAHAHAHAHAHA' lit up Twitter as user VivaDaDom shared this clip with his followers, reaching 1.4 million views in less than 48 hours.

He captioned the hilarious video, writing his opinion that this was the “best line to come out of a Simpsons game," though some were skeptical about whether this was simply a CGI mod.

Though most reactions were happy, another user retweeted the clip, voicing his concern over the recent 2023 Writers Guild of America strike which happened May 2nd this year due to an ongoing labour dispute between the Writers Guild and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, which calls for better compensation for writers via residuals with the advent of streaming.

User @pderevere wrote: “Sadly there’s a very good chance the writer who came up with this line isn’t getting any residuals at all for it #WritersStrike.”

With such cracking jokes sprinkled into this fan-favourite game, hopefully the writers were heavily compensated for their fantastic humour and sneaky writing.
