The Simpsons has brutally killed off yet another beloved character.

The writers of the show are always keeping viewers on their toes — something that's kept The Simpsons running for over 30 years.

The show even got its own movie in 2007 and fans were elated to learn that a second film is finally in the works. The exciting news was announced in September where it was revealed that the sequel will hit theaters in July 2027.

I'm sure a lot will happen on The Simpsons between then and now, including some heartbreaking deaths.

Fans were recently floored when it appeared as if Marge Simpson had been 'killed off' on the show; but fear not folks, the beloved matriarch of the Simpson family is still alive and well. The episode, called 'Estranger Things', where she died was just a future flash-forward episode.

The Simpsons executive producer Matt Selman clarified this in a conversation with Variety and assured viewers that Marge 'will probably never be dead ever again'.

"The only place Marge is dead is in one future episode that aired six weeks ago," he added at the time.

However, the same can't be said for another character on the show who executive producer Tim Long told People is now 'dead as a doornail'.

The character? Alice Glick, the well-loved church organist who made her first appearance on The Simpsons in 'Three Men and a Comic Book' in season two that aired back in 1991.

Alice seemingly died in season 22 when she was attacked by a robopet but she reappeared on the sitcom several episodes later.

But her death is for good this time, says Long. He explained: "In a sense, Alice the organist will live forever, through the beautiful music she made. But in another, more important sense, yep she's dead as a doornail."

Viewers of the show have since reacted to the news online and it's sure to say that Alice will be missed.

One wrote: "Alice Glick has gone??! RIP."

A second said: "Oh noooooo, not Alice Glick!"

Someone else commented: "1st Larry, now Alice Glick. The Simpsons are killing off everyone..."

Others pointed out that it's not actually the first time Alice had died.

"This is the second time she's died," one user penned on Twitter.

Echoing similar sentiments, another The Simpsons viewer wrote: "Didn’t she die before in that episode where Lisa invents that’s robot seal toy?"
