Woman left her husband after ‘seeing just one text’ that ruined their marriage, after her husband referred to her as ‘SWMBO' on a text.

Wondering what a SWMBO is? Same.

This acronym is what led to the end of a marriage, after the woman found her husband referring to her as ‘SWMBO’ in texts to friends, and is now seeking a divorce as she claimed the confusing nickname was the ‘final straw'.

Her decision to leave her husband while sharing a two year old child together might seem slightly intense, but the women went onto share more details of her marriage, claiming that there was much more beneath the nickname for her.

"From the moment our son was born, nothing changed for my husband," she wrote on Mamamia.

"He stayed in our marital bed whilst I moved into the nursery to do night duty with our son. He continued his long Friday lunches, that always turned into Friday night drinks, because they were networking opportunities. He had always played Thursday night sport – he didn’t ever even miss one week."

She then claimed that the couple hit trouble when her husband seemed secretive about his plans, despite her asking to be open with her and tell her where he’s going.

"It was a weird shift in our marriage that I hadn’t expected – this stubborn reluctance to tell us when he was going to participate in our lives," she wrote.

She went on to explain that seeing the text message of her being referred to as ‘SWMBO’ after her husband went on a night out, was the final straw for her.

She felt heartbroken to learn after confronting her husband, that ‘SWMBO’ was an acronym for ‘She Who Must Be Obeyed’ – which she didn’t feel was fair based on their relationship.

"It wasn’t a matter of ‘obeying’ me, or asking my permission, as he often complained. It’s not called ‘asking permission’ like he’s a teenager and I’m his mother," she said.

"It’s called respect. Courtesy in checking to see if you’re needed – to say what your plans are."

She then made the decision to leave her husband just a week later, writing to people following the story online: "To me, I didn’t have a choice. Staying with a man who valued us so little wasn’t an option."

The woman was met with compassion after posting online, with one reader saying: "This is heartbreaking for each individual in that family; [there are] no winners."
