A dating expert has now weighed in after Travis Kelce's controversial claim about his relationship with Taylor Swift set the internet alight.
The power couple began dating in 2023 before announcing their engagement back in August.
In that time, we've seen Swift cheering on the NFL star at countless Kansas City Chiefs games, while Kelce made a memorable appearance on stage at The Eras Tour in London.
Swift might have told us all about Kelce's 'Wood' on her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, but now Kelce has lifted the lid on what life is really like with the megastar.

On the latest episode of his New Heights podcast with brother Jason and actor George Clooney, Kelce dropped some relationship lore that has sparked some serious discourse.
What did Travis Kelce say about his relationship with Taylor Swift?

The brothers were discussing Clooney's claim that he’s never argued with his wife, Amal, in their over 10-year marriage.

Kelce asked Clooney whether he was 'lying', and after Clooney insisted he wasn’t, he threw the question back at the sports star.
"Well it’s only been two and a half years and you’re right. I haven’t gotten in an argument. Never once," he reflected.
The claim went viral, with social media users rapidly weighing in on the subject.
Some reckoned it was a blaring red flag, while others wanted to know what Kelce meant by 'argument'.

Now, a dating expert has broken down what a lack of arguments can really reveal.
Claire Rénier, relationship expert at real-life dating app happn, warns that being in the same camp as Clooney and Kelce might not be the good news you think it is.
She also shared what she thinks Kelce really meant by his polarizing comment.
How can arguing in relationships be a good thing?

Not all conflict is bad, as Rénier tells UNILAD.
"If a couple never or very rarely has arguments, it can be easy to take a black and white approach and flag this as being either a green flag or a bright red one," the dating expert said.
But she highlights that all relationships are 'incredibly unique', especially when it comes to navigating disagreements.
One reason couples might never row is that they resolve conflict before it reaches the boiling point.

"It may be that they focus on framing disagreements as a shared problem to solve rather than a battle to be won - which immediately puts the onus on working through things together rather than resorting to the blame game," Rénier said.
She adds that, crucially, these couples will have certain steps in place to stop escalation.
These might include 'being quick to apologize' or focusing on expressing their gratitude for each other 'through thick and thin'.
Why might never arguing be unhealthy?

In some instances, a lack of conflict could signal a deeper issue within the relationship.
Rénier explains that couples who 'truly' never argue could be avoiding necessary conversations by 'simply sweeping things under the rug'.
"This can lead to resentment, unhappiness and a lack of passion just for the sake of maintaining peace and stability," she warned.
Constructive conversations are a 'much more productive' way of working through issues than 'fighting through hostility and tension,' Rénier adds.

They also give each partner the opportunity to strengthen their relationship by providing a deeper understanding of each other’s feelings and more room for emotional connection.
What did Kelce really mean by his 'no arguments' comment?
Rénier reckons there may be some truth to Kelce's controversial statement.
"It may be true that Travis and Taylor have never had a more heated argument or fight, but that doesn’t mean that they haven’t had lower level conflicts and handled these constructively," she explained, adding that it's 'rare' that two people will truly be in agreement over absolutely everything.

"But it’s likely that they’re having calm, respectful discussions and making compromises where needed rather than having full blown fights," Rénier concluded.
"Conflict isn’t always a bad thing in relationships - it just comes down to how you and your partner handle it."
