A private investigator has revealed how you could utilise a common electrical item to confirm your suspicions of whether or not your spouse is cheating on you - and it might surprise you.
People commit infidelity for a whole host of reasons. Some claim to lack emotional connection with their current partners, while others strike up relationships with other people due to financial dependency, according to the American Sociological Association (ASA).
A study conducted by the Kinsey Institute has previously discovered that 23 percent of single men and 19 percent of single women have admitted to cheating, with the gap widening significantly for married couples.

Paul Jones, a private investigator at ARF Investigators, told The Mirror that there are multiple, subtle ways you can decipher whether or not your significant other is seeing someone else.

“Quite often we won’t catch our partner in the act so to speak, it often comes in small clues such as spending more time at work, picking up a new hobby or taking more pride in their appearance, but one thing many of us may miss is for every action we take, often data is being tracked,” he explained to the publication.
Jones has also detailed one particular experience that he had with an ex-client, who became suspicious that her husband was committing infidelity.

Her reasoning? He wasn’t brushing his teeth at dawn and dusk like most people.
Instead, he was practising oral hygiene at some of the most random parts of the day.
In an attempt to figure out what was going down in her personal life, the unnamed woman allegedly downloaded a tooth brushing app.
The technology was originally used to help her children brush their teeth, but was later employed to track her husband’s habit too.

“Over time, the client noticed their partner’s brushing history was being logged at odd times, times when they were supposedly at work,” Jones explained.
It’s understood that the woman saw a pattern forming; in the late hours of Friday morning, her husband would brush his teeth.
“The client couldn’t work out why the app was showing that the husband was brushing his teeth later in the morning on a Friday when he should have been in work.”
Eventually, the woman learned that her spouse hadn’t actually been at work on a Friday for three months, and instead had been having an affair with a work colleague.

“The data doesn’t lie,” Jones added. “It’s timestamped, often location-based, and emotionless.
“When a device says someone brushed their teeth at 10:48 am when they were supposed to start work at 9 am that’s very hard to explain away.”

What are some other signs that your partner is cheating on you?
Tom Martin, a former federal agent and top private investigator, has also previously detailed his top signs that point to infidelity in your relationship.

These include spending longer hours at work, taking impromptu or out-of-the-ordinary business trips, and wanting to spend less time having sex with you.
Martin also says having unexplained items in their car, hidden credit card bills, and secretive social media accounts may also raise alarm bells.
“If you have three or four, you have a problem,” he told The Independent last year.
What to do if you’ve discovered your partner is cheating on you?
Dr Kathy Nickerson, a relationship psychologist, has previously listed a plethora of ways to cope with your partner committing infidelity on her website.
She recommends avoiding alcohol, drugs and caffeine and that you try to eat a balanced diet to calm your system down.
Writing down your feelings in a journal may also help you begin processing your challenging situation.
Dr Nickerson also advises you to take your mind off the situation, suggesting you go and see a movie or get stuck into a book by an author that you really love.
“Go volunteer at a local animal or homeless shelter. Doing something to care for other people makes us feel better and distracts us from our pain,” she added.
