A disgruntled passer-by has complained about a ‘crude’ sign on display at a construction site in Australia.

Taking to Facebook, the man claimed to be passing by a Woolworths building site in Mosman, New South Wales, when he clocked the ‘smutty’ slogan for the excavator company, Dick’s Diggers.

Clearly playing on their company name, the slogan, 'Our goal is your hole', was plastered on the fence advertising banners around the building work.

But the man and his wife were clearly not impressed when they came across the slogan and took to social media to air their thoughts.

“My wife and I walked past the Woolworths construction site today and we were shocked by the language so crudely displayed,” the man began in his post.

“There is a school not even a furlong (220 yards) away. I’m gobsmacked.

“How many thousands of children are being exposed to such filth? Surely our village is above this smut.”

Since the man’s post has gone viral on Facebook and Reddit, many onlookers have clapped back at the man’s comments regarding the slogan.

One person commented: “Almost every child who walks past that sign will be laughing loudly,” while another added: “Some adults, as well…”

A third person penned: “That plus any child that’d be ‘inappropriate for’ wouldn’t get it, and would probably be confused on why the older kids are rolling on the ground.”

“Trust me, kids have seen much worse before lunchtime,” a different onlooker noted.

Meanwhile, different social media users took to the defence of the building company for their choice of words.

One person wrote: “Geez, there really are some true ‘Karens’ out there!”

Another person on Reddit penned: “That’s an incredible slogan. Non-Karen approved,” while another added: “I’m gonna need some company swag.”

The man and his wife were clearly not impressed when they came across the slogan.

“How the hell is this offensive? Too many snowflakes out there,” a final person added.

Someone else noted that the phrase was commonly seen in the construction industry, explaining: “Sign maker here: I have made so many ‘your hole is our goal’ signs for excavating companies, they always laugh and think they are the ones that came up with it."

“I love to bust their bubble and show them the 100 companies that did it before them. Money is money so I do it,” added another.

However, some other people did agree with the man’s sentiment: “Okay - it’s not the worst thing I’ve ever seen, but it IS pretty tasteless,” said one person.

UNILAD has contacted a representative of Dick’s Diggers for a comment regarding the claims.
