Donald Trump Jr. slammed for ‘disgusting’ post depicting the president throwing dildo onto WNBA court

Donald Trump Jr. has made another ‘disgusting’ post, this time appearing to poke fun at WNBA players.

The president's eldest son, nicknamed Don Jr, is no stranger to controversy, having recently landed in hot water for appearing to make an insensitive statement about Joe Biden.

In May, the office of the former president confirmed the 82-year-old had been diagnosed with prostate cancer, and while well-wishes were flooding in, Don Jr took the chance to jibe at the Bidens.

"What I want to know is how did Dr. Jill Biden miss stage five metastatic cancer or is this yet another coverup???", he wrote at the time which dozens slammed as 'shameless' and 'vile.'

Now, he's hit a nerve again, this time appearing to poke fun at female basketball players amid a rise in sexual harassment on the court.

The 47-year-old shared a meme on his Instagram account which shows his father and POTUS Donald Trump standing on the roof of the White House looking down.

Photoshopped into the image is then what appears to be a bright green sex toy and half a dozen WNBA players on a basketball court below, suggesting Trump has 'thrown' the dildo at the sportswomen.

While Don Jr captioned the meme: "Posted without further comment" with three laughing face emojis, critics say they believe his sharing of the post is a 'disgusting attempt to joke about the misogynistic harassment of WNBA players.'

The internet meme comes as WNBA players have been hit by a crude spate of incidents involving sex toys being thrown onto the court in recent weeks, prompting outrage from players, coaches and commentators who say it only shows sexism and misogyny around women's sports is sadly alive and kicking.

Reacting to Don Jr's involvement in the ordeal, dozens of Reddit users pointed out how the attitude contradicts Republicans' insistence that it is 'saving women's sports' by cracking down on transgender athletes competing in women's categories.

"This pic + this party claiming the moral high ground on all things = cognitive dissonance of the highest order," said one.

"I thought all the election ads said they were the party to protect women’s sports lol," chimed a second.

A third said sarcastically: "But it's trans women that are the real threat to women's sports."

Also responding to the alarming rise of sex toys being thrown onto courts, Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve told CNN earlier this week: "This has been going on for centuries, the sexualization of women. This is the latest version of that. And it’s not funny and it should not be the butt of jokes on radio shows, or in print or any comments.”

“The sexualization of women is what’s used to hold women down and this is no different," Reeve continued. "This is its latest form, and we should write about it in that way. These people that are doing this should be held accountable and we’re not the butt of the joke. They’re the problem.”

An 18-year-old man and a 23-year-old man have both been arrested in connection with the alleged incidents while a group of cryptocurrency meme coin creators have reportedly claimed they're behind it all - which perhaps explains why the dildo in Don Jr's meme is green as the color matches with a new meme coin which is a play on a type of sex toy.

A WNBA spokesperson told CCN that the league has been working with law enforcement to pursue action over 'anyone engaged in this conduct or otherwise involved in sponsoring this reckless and unacceptable behaviour' with a view to arrest and charge offenders.
