Marjorie Taylor Greene says 'evil forces' are to blame instead of guns after latest US mass shooting

Rather than focusing on gun law reforms, the Republican said the latest mass shooting results from ‘mental illness, drugs, and evil forces’.

Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has blamed the latest US shooting on ‘evil forces’.

Over the weekend, a gunman killed eight people at a shopping mall in Allen, Texas, just north of Dallas.

Hundreds of shoppers evacuated Allen Premium Outlets when the attack erupted.

Naturally, people are calling on America to have a conversation about gun laws as more blood is shed.

However, rather than focusing on gun law reforms, Greene said the latest mass shooting results from ‘mental illness, drugs, and evil forces’ which can ‘cause people to commit such horrors.’

While retweeting a photo of the deceased mass shooter - that has since been taken down as it violates the rules of Twitter - Greene wrote: “This is exactly what this monster deserves.

“Thank God for the brave officer that courageously ran into the line of fire to save others.

“We pray for the victims and their families and an end to the mental illness, drugs, and evil forces that cause people to commit such horrors.”

However, the far-right conspiracy theorist’s remarks immediately came under fire.

One person wrote: “If America has a 25 times higher gun homicide rate than peer nations because we're uniquely more mentally ill, addicted, and evil than other humans, isn't that actually an argument for keeping guns away from most Americans?”

Another commented: “MTG that monster was enabled by you yourself, and by massive numbers of right-wing monsters who prevent this country from having civilized gun regulations. Take responsibility for your legislative bad behavior, Marge.”

While a third wrote: “Who let that monster have a gun?”

Fellow Republican Ted Cruz also faced a similar backpack for expressing his condolences while offering up nothing but ‘prayers’ following the massacre.

“Heidi and I are praying for the families of the victims of the horrific mall shooting in Allen, Texas. We pray also for the broader Collin county community that’s in shock from this tragedy,” he wrote.

It prompted one user to respond, writing: “You don’t get tired of saying the same thing but actually doing nothing????”

While another said: “Heidi and I are praying that the families of the victims of the latest mass slaughter don't figure out that I take a LOT of money from the NRA to allow this to keep happening because that buys me a lot of vacations in Cancun. Praise Jesus and where's my check?”

The Texas mall massacre is the 199th shooting in the US this year, making it on track to becoming a record-breaking year for firearm deaths.
