Marjorie Taylor Greene has revealed that Donald Trump had a 'furious' response when she confirmed she intends to resign.
The Georgia Republican, who had previously been a vocal supporter of Trump, revealed the president's reaction to her announcement in her first national interview since she confirmed she will resign.
Greene confirmed that she had voted to release further emails from convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, prompting her former ally, Trump, to turn on her.
In a statement posted to social media, Greene said she will leave Congress on 5 January 2026.

Greene did not mince her words in her resignation letter, writing: "Standing up for American women who were raped at 14, trafficked and used by rich, powerful men, should not result in me being called a traitor and threatened by the President of the United States, whom I fought for."

She went on to say in a video statement posted online: "I refuse to be a 'battered wife' hoping it all goes away and gets better."
Now, Greene has opened up about Trump's reaction to her signing a petition to release files on Epstein, whose association with President Trump is public knowledge.

In an interview scheduled to air on 7 December, Green told 60 Minutes journalist Leslie Stahl: “We did talk about the Epstein files, and he was extremely angry at me that I had signed the discharge petition to release the files."
In her own video, Greene added: "I have too much self-respect and dignity, love my family way too much, and do not want my sweet district to have to endure a hurtful and hateful primary against me by the President we all fought for, only to fight and win my election while Republicans will likely lose the midterms.
“And in turn, be expected to defend the President against impeachment after he hatefully dumped tens of millions of dollars against me and tried to destroy me. It's all so absurd and completely unserious."

A bill which would force the release of files on Epstein, who trafficked underage girls to his private island, passed both the House and the Senate.
President Trump signed the bill, even though he had reportedly tried to prevent it from passing previously.
Under the bill, within 30 days, the Justice Department must release all documents which are related to Epstein, as well as information on the investigation into his death in prison.
Greene reiterated her support for victims of Epstein, telling 60 Minutes: “I fully believe those women deserve everything they’re asking.

“They’re asking for all of it to come out. They deserve it. And he was furious with me.”
As for what Trump actually said to her about releasing the Epstein files, Greene paused before giving a more cryptic reply, saying: “He said that it was going to hurt people."
A spokesperson for the White House told UNILAD: “President Trump has been consistently calling for transparency related to the Epstein files - by releasing thousands of pages of documents, cooperating with the House Oversight Committee’s subpoena request, and President Trump recently calling for further investigations into Epstein’s Democrat friends, the Trump Administration has done more for the victims than Democrats ever have.”
